Pros

Decent work/life balance during the summer months (for a public accounting firm)

Cons

EXTREMELY toxic management (senior managers and principals) in the Troy office specifically. Be prepared to be overworked, underpaid, and verbally abused. This firm is also extremely short staffed because everybody is leaving (I wonder why....) I do NOT recommend working here. If you have any other prospects at all, keep looking. Management loves to gossip and WILL talk about you behind your back as soon as you leave the room. Never in my life have I experienced such rude, unprofessional and downright childish upper management. Also, forget about the formal review process because management prefers to operate on a "he said, she said" basis, making promotions all but unobtainable. Public accounting has notoriously high attrition rates, but this firm goes the extra mile with more turnover than I've ever seen before.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are actually very proud that in the times of the Great Resignation and a candidate-driven market, Rehmann experienced the lowest turnover in history in 2022 (11%) and much lower than the national average (including our profession). We feel that it speaks highly of our culture and people-focused efforts that we have invested in. You have shared quite a number of concerns about your employment with Rehmann and we can address some of those in this public forum. However, we're hopeful that that you shared feedback through the variety of avenues that the firm provides. Of course, open dialog through one-on-one conversations can also be super valuable, whether with the HR team or other firm leaders. This is all in an effort to ensure that every voice is heard and valued within the entirety of the firm. Our firm and our leaders can only get better if we provide them with honest feedback! You mention being overworked. Although the workload can feel high during busier seasons, we're hopeful that you found that our culture is built around flexibility and work/life integration, as we strive to nurture an environment where all associates are able to be successful at work and at home! You mentioned being underpaid. We know that competitive compensation is critical in attracting and retaining great talent. As such, we are fortunate to partner with Mercer, who is a leading expert in the compensation space, to assist our firm in remaining as competitive as possible. You also expressed concerns with our formal performance review process. We do have an annual formal review process where all leaders have an opportunity to provide feedback if they have worked with you, but also where you can share feedback/results about your own performance. We also have a formal goal setting process called our Grow Plan where you have the opportunity to meet with your supervisor regularly to celebrate your progress and overcome any challenges that you may be facing in reaching them. Our managers are formally trained on these processes, so they can be highly effective in providing feedback and helping your reach your greatest potential.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We see that you are a "former associate" of Rehmann and no longer with our firm. We're surprised and sorry to hear that you didn't see a career future here! We have defined career paths and formal promotion processes that are published for all associates to utilize, including tips on how to personally play a key role in your own advancement. In addition, all internal openings are shared with our associates and they are encouraged to consider those for their own internal mobility. We feel that all associates have opportunities to learn, grow and advance based on their personal interests and goals. Our CEO joined the firm as an intern and look at him today!

Pros

co-workers were great a lot of friendly people

Cons

The medical Management team is not the greatest. Do not do an excellent job with training and explaining the logistics of the company. The assignments are not well understood and result in wasted billable hours. Not very supportive of new employees and helping them understand how the company works and what expectations are. They don't take the time to train because it takes away from their billable hours.

We're sorry to hear that you didn't feel that your onboarding process at Rehmann was smooth or successful. We intentionally try to coordinate multiple people to be involved in your new hire experience, so you will truly get the big picture all the way down to the smaller details about your new role. A buddy is assigned to be more of a peer supporter in your transition to Rehmann....your direct supervisor being someone feet on the ground with you to learn the ropes of your new responsibilities....IT specialists assisting in your access and understanding of new systems....HR providing a higher level overview to the firm during our new hire orientation program called "Foundations" and being resources on a day-to-day....our Office Managers giving you a lay of the land related to office specific processes. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like all of those pieces aligned for you to give you the experience that we strive for. We're hopeful that you asked for assistance or shared your feedback with those who could change your experience. That is definitely the only way that our firm can continue to improve our processes. It appears that you are no longer with Rehmann, but we'd certainly welcome you to contact our HR team to share your experiences if you hadn't prior to leaving.
