Pros

The employee benefits are nice. Free coffee shop in the building.

Cons

The rotating door of senior leadership makes for zero stability in processes/expectations since with each new hire comes a wave of sweeping changes by the new VP/director/etc. A few years ago things were at least taking a progressive approach, but then the company decided to hire a third party consulting firm to “reorganize” the engineering department, the outcome of which was layoff after layoff after layoff. And even amongst those who remain there’s only empty promises of promotions or deteriorating team cultures ahead of them at a salary that’s below market rate. I once would recommend this company to my friends, but now I wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemies.

Pros

-Flex hybrid for in office attendance. -Plethora of employee social clubs to engage in. -Unlimited PTO.

Cons

-Culture is not diverse and only promotes/recognizes people like the executive suite -Healthy debate, supposedly a core value, is actually how a lot of managers decide who they like and don't like. More debate=less promotion. -Completely removed the option of pay raises. COLA percentages unreasonable considering nature of economy. -After 2 rounds of layoffs in less than 6 months, it became evident that revenue is being "fluffed" or incorrect information is being relayed to actual employees, -Exceptional performance is not rewarded, and poor performance is not reprimanded. -Communication at every level is severely lacking, and usually takes place well after the fact. -Business practices are extremely skewed including manipulation in contract terms and enforcement, continued attempts to monopolize the market, and lack of internal controls across various departments.

It's changed, but not for the better

Pros

The people are great, and the mission is inspiring.

Cons

C-level leadership is out of touch with employees. The return to office was handled poorly. They said they'd never require people to work in the office, then one day it was announced that it was mandated to be in the office. Those who don't comply risk not receiving pay increases or promotions. They say its to build community, but the C-suite doesn't interact with employees unless they are forced to. They laid-off one VP that actually spent time to build community and the reason why she's gone doesn't make sense. The secret layoffs don't make sense. Really good employees and leaders are being laid off with no explanation. Inept leaders are being allowed to stay and given more responsibility. It doesn't make sense. People are scared, confused, and frustrated. Leadership does not want or respond well to feedback or criticism. They say healthy debate is a core value, but when someone challenges something, there is retaliation. It does not feel safe to give honest feedback. Morale is low.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. As the head of Recruitment, I’ve had to stay on top of messaging ongoing to make sure we were being as transparent and accurate as possible with candidates when describing our plans for return to work. I feel that at every stage of the game, our leadership informed us that they were truly hoping to avoid mandates, and that it was up to managers and departments to bring people in, to drive collaboration and creativity that was more difficult (and took longer) online. At some point, it became clear that a mandate was going to be necessary to drive the in-person collaboration that we were requiring to hit our 2023 goals – especially when it came time for us to start launching new products and modernizing our platform. We know this has been hard for some, but our model is as flexible as it can possibly be – allowing people to determine what days they plan to be onsite and for how long that day. We’ve heard a lot of positive feedback as well, since staff has enjoyed getting to know others in person and experience in-person the collegial culture we’ve always been known for. As a company, we have been discussing organizational changes ongoing as they’ve happened, with some of these departures being discussed in depth during the November All Hands. Recognizing it is always hard to see colleagues depart, these organization changes were not made lightly. If you have additional questions about the reasons behind changes or have general feedback on what can be improved, please discuss with your department leader or come speak to our Chief People Officer, who is always open to discuss changes, the reasons behind them or opportunities for improvement.
