Unveiling the Toxicity

Pros

Decent benefits, 401k match, PTO, and free 321 Coffee.

Cons

I had a disappointing experience working at Relias. The work environment is toxic and morale is consistently low due to frequent layoffs and sudden organizational changes with no communication or explanation. Leadership often plays favorites, promoting those who are more inclined to agree with them. Speaking up with legitimate concerns or inquiries may result in repercussions and accusations. Unfortunately, rather than acknowledging whistleblowers for their contributions, punitive measures are taken. The overarching focus seems to be solely on the bottom line, with leadership pressing for product launches by specific deadlines, even if the products remain unfinished or untested. Consequently, there is a perplexing lack of awareness regarding the correlation between the quality of deliverables and customer satisfaction. There's a significant gap between the CEO's vision and the reality of the company's operations. His cluelessness knows no bounds. His lack of understanding and tone-deaf remarks, like his Juneteenth gaffe, are just the tip of the iceberg. The HR leader's behavior is particularly unprofessional. She frequently dismissed team member concerns, even resorting to labeling employees as "cynical" for asking questions about returning to the office during the pandemic. This behavior contradicted the company's supposed value of "healthy debate". Despite Relias' attempts to portray itself as a top workplace, the reality is far from it. The company is rapidly declining, and it's clear that the once positive culture has been eroded. Prospective employees should be wary of joining a company that prioritizes profit over its employees' well-being and integrity.

Pros

Fellow employees are great, very friendly, collaborative environment. Some of the benefits (401k matching, employee provided insurance, unlimited PTO) are pretty good.

Cons

Upper management. They ignore issues until they can't be ignored, then layoff the people that had nothing to do with the poor decisions. C-level: CEO is mostly absent. He is at the All Hands meeting but has no insight or engagement. Almost immediately hands off microphone to someone else. Previous CEO was engaged with employees at all levels. Chief Product Officer can't communicate well - his comments are full of buzz words that don't convey any real information. He has been running engineering for the past couple of years and done it poorly. Chief People Officer, when trying to announce the return to office policy that was poorly written called the people on the call cynical because they had legitimate questions. She disappeared from communicating for a few weeks but never acknowledged her poor response. Management routinely waves their hand and says not to worry about metrics that are in the red because some new initiative is going to bring that into the green, but every quarter it's still red. In general, the management has some great published corporate values that they don't follow and will punish those that do (Healthy Debate, Data Driven Decision Making?) Compensation is low for the area.

Pros

Are you an independent-minded, self-motivated recent college grad willing to work for less than your worth? Do you look the other way when overpromoted mediocrities make suspect decisions? Are health benefits not important to you? If you answered yes to any of these questions and are able to pass a subjective, ever changing intelligence test, then Relias Learning is the place for you! I mean, Relias! We changed our name because we’re so fast-paced! Better keep up! We have ping-pong!* Don’t believe that Relias is a SUPER FUN GREAT PLACE to work? Well, look at all the positive reviews the ELT made middle-management write! Bet Red Hat doesn’t make their employees write fake reviews. #relias Is our business model beginning to collapse under a mountain of poor strategic decisions made year after year? Are we laying people off even though we claim to make gobs of money? Did I mention we have foosball? We’re fun!** And yes yes, some of the people in management are unqualified, don’t know what they’re doing, and are possibly committing fraud. But guess what, they’ll be gone in 6 months anyway, so it doesn’t matter! Also, new building! So, come on, Millennial, ignore the negative reviews, forget that gnawing sense that something isn’t right and get ready to have a blast at the GREATEST COMPANY IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD for no more than 50% of your market value (including benefits)!!!!!!!! Also, we’re streamlining your position. Please turn your computer in to your manager. Wait, your manager was streamlined as well. Just drop your computer in a garbage can.

Cons
