Pros

Working remotely, flexible schedule, some great peers who genuinely work hard and want to do a good job. Opportunity to work from anywhere on Earth, as long as you have an internet connection.

Cons

People suddenly disappear without warning - I assume they were fired, in most cases. I've shown up to meetings with clients where the Sales person who set up the meeting didn't attend, and I found their internal profile(s) had been inactivated without explanation, and their closest teammates had no idea they were gone. Everyone seems so overworked and stressed out all the time, that there's virtually no social interaction on Slack despite having hundreds of social channels and ERGs. Managers with no prior experience in their department's areas of expertise are leading teams working in these areas, and seem to have a habit of overriding their SMEs when the SMEs say something shouldn't be done X way. It is my belief, based on conversations with managers in my department, that Remote has a large budget to deal with paying the fines for breaking the laws they didn't research proactively before entering a new market, all in the name of being competitive and closing deals quickly. I don't personally believe that they abide by their internal whistleblower policy, so I wouldn't recommend thinking you're protected if you blow the whistle internally or externally. If you're a client of Remote, I urge you to do audits of your own company's compliance when it comes to payroll, time off policies, and benefits for your employees who are employed by Remote on your behalf, especially in the most legally complex markets. If they try to withhold documents that you request to review as part of your audit, there's probably good reason they're trying to prevent you from reviewing them as part of your audit.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We appreciate your positive feedback about our global remote culture, flexibility, and the dedication of many team members. We want to be clear that compliance is absolutely non-negotiable at Remote. We take our legal and regulatory obligations extremely seriously in every market we operate in, and this is never compromised for the sake of a deal. Our whistleblower policy is extensive and strictly enforced, including legal protections for individuals who report concerns. Whistleblowers have the ability to submit a report multiple ways, including anonymously. Regarding internal communications and team changes, we strive to balance transparency with privacy and legal requirements. We understand this can sometimes lead to uncertainty, and acknowledge that improvements can be made in this area. We value feedback from all our employees and encourage anyone with specific concerns to raise them internally, or by emailing [people@remote.com]

Pros

You get paid but at what cost...

Cons

1. Sales leadership make working here very difficult, moving SDRs around teams and regions with no regard or care for the SDRs themselves. 2. Mass hire and fire culture - long and sustainable tenures are not considered important. Long probations and fixed-term contract hires are also very common. 3. Culture of fear: employees closely observed at work events "to check who we still want in the company and who doesn't belong here". 4. Work from anywhere has been reduced to: work from anywhere for max. 90 days per year, provided that you've been at Remote for at least 6 months and IF your manager approves.

Pros

- Some really exceptional people - Async work - Good salary - Lots of autonomy

Cons

- Too much indifference all over the place - The culture disappeared at some point, probably due to hypergrowth - Some people are slacking massively. Having to depend on those people is a pure nightmare - More often than not, async is misused as no-sync - Lots of miscommunication related to Performance Reviews, e.g. how are employees rated and how does that map to promotion and salary increase
