Pros

Great place to get good experience right out of college and reasonable pay for college grads. The people are great at Reynolds, you will find life long friends there. If you like structure, you will do well. The structure is great for a new professional in my opinion. If money is not your main concern in life, but enjoying your job and working with great people is, this might be the place for you. The training is outstanding and the professional development is great.

Cons

Once you have been there a few years, your advancement opportunities bottleneck; promotion opportunities don't come up often. Raises have always been poor, so the longer you stay, the farther away your salary gets from everyone else that's been working as long as you. Experience is not appreciated enough. I've heard the term used by upper management more than once "no one is irreplaceable". You should forget about ever making a decent salary as an experienced line employee and even a supervisor. I think Managers and up do fairly well though. However, good luck getting to that position.

Pros

Reynolds & Reynolds boasts some of the most competent, caring, and dedicated lower-level employees I've seen in my career. There are great opportunities for the entry-level employee to gain experience in business, customer service, and the automotive industry, and provides a view of some of the challenges facing corporate America. Benefits are excellent for young, single employees, but become much more expensive for those employees with families to provide for. I will say that the Reynolds & Reynolds facility is among the best in the area, complete with a gym, a bank, a cafeteria, and a small store. It provides a great social network of sports leagues, round tables, and family events.

Cons

Getting into Reynolds is a feat in itself, with the rigorous and sometimes incomprehensible testing requirements. Merely making it in the door feels like an accomplishment, until you realize how difficult it is to get anywhere once your foot is in the door. Promoting is intended to come from within; however, jobs are not posted so it is difficult to move laterally within the company. Senior level management personnel are not in touch with the issues their reports face, especially Mr. Brockman, who resides nearly full-time out-of-state. In addition, he has a blatant and notorious disinterest or perhaps disregard for the people that work for him. While it may well be true that the closer you get to the top, the warmer he is, but his inability to connect with those at the bottom has not given them much hope that they will find that out. It doesn't help that every piece of employee literature is so steeped in legalese that you begin to wonder why that is deemed necessary.

Pros

It used to be a terrific company to work for. Almost two decades ago when I started, the company was customer focused and every employee was empowered to take care of the customer and do the right thing. We were rewarded by annual pay increases and very good benefits. We became the DMS provider with the most market share and had the respect of our customers and though they may not admit it, our competitors as well. We still have competitive benefits and 401k with company matching up to six percent. Unfortunately pay raises have disappeared. The company still has a significant market share and the ERA system remains one of the most popular systems in the business.

Cons

The new regime is huge on micromanagement in a vain attempt to track every moment of every day, random drug testing that now includes nicotine. The customer is no longer the focus, internal processes are. Employees are discouraged from thinking on their own much less outside the box, we are no longer allowed to write or e-mail customers without management proofreading and approving all correspondence. Everyone is required to sign non compete forms and agree to an employee handbook that is constantly changed with every new directive ending with the phrase "May result in disciplinary action up to and including termination". Any criticism of the company regardless of how constructive it may be is considered to be a "negative attitude" and is grounds for immediate termination.
