I dont think they value their employees very much. Basically forced to work long hours and not flexible with time off. I feel micro-managed. I feel the organization is very unorganized. People are hired and put to work with very limited knowledge which causes big problems and more work for others. I was basically self taught and learned on the job, which made my "getting up to speed" very slow.

The recruiter told me I would need to "drink the Kool-aid" to fit into the culture. The recruiter was too young to understand the reference for that remark. A job at Quicken is a short term proposition at best. Out of a training class of 40 mortgage bankers as I was hired in, 8 made it to the 9 month mark. How do they fail? Someone else mentioned the "frog in the water" trick. Here is how it worked in my case. The first six months were fine. Then came the test to see if I would "drink the Kool aid". To them, that meant that over the next two months, the quality of the leads I was provided with was reduced to a ridiculous level (yes, they can and do measure the quality of leads coming in and assign them as management sees fit). Since ALL leads for loans are generated through this system, my lack of productivity resulted in multiple meetings with HR in which I was encouraged to work more hours, evening hours, Saturdays AND Sundays in order to "get back on track". I'm sure this trick would work with a newbie out of college who couldn't yet tell a good lead from a bad lead. But I had MUCH more experience and drew the line at the 50 hours a week I had been and was willing to give them. In short, I didn't like the lead quality or the lead manipulation, I didn't like the constant measurement of all aspect of the job: phone calls, counted, timed, measured for duration, and monitored. The pay was not very good. My last day was my best day.
