Pros

They do have the Christmas to New Years holiday off, however, you have to use your vacation days for most of that week. So if you used all 8 vacation days before the holiday break, you won’t get paid for the mandatory time off.

Cons

- the Merchant Support Organization has been established for 6-7 years now and they still do not know how to give out work evenly or understand the nuances of each area. They are constantly changing processes up and have yet to find one that works. - they care about the number of skus and amount of work getting done more than their staff. For instance, they pay attention to numbers instead of why a PO from one department may take longer to complete than a PO from another department -if you’re a good worker, you will get over worked while other MSAs do the bare minimum. You will get paid the same. -bonuses? Ross has never heard of them - HR doesn’t care about their employees mental health, they will side with upper management, even when upper management is unprofessional and negligent - the pay rate of MSO administrators and coordinators is the lowest of any other company with this type of position - training is almost non existent after the first initial training when you onboard - upper management looks out for their own and treat lower level employees like they are machines - lastly, the buyers/assistant buyers talk down on the MSAs and treat them like servants. I know for a fact that they speak poorly about their MSAs amounts to each other. AND they never follow the Buyer/merchant support agreements, they want their work done when they want it done and if it isn’t complete it becomes a problem that their needs to be numerous meeting about. So if a merchant says they need 30 POs with 25 skus each done by the next day EOD, you will have to get it done even if no one is available to help There’s so much more but I’ll leave it at that.

Pros

You get 20% discounts on your whole purchase and once a year they have a 40% off discount day for employees. If you’re lucky, your co workers are fun people to be around.

Cons

Because its a discount store, you’re bound to meet one of the nastiest customers on the face of earth. They dont train you well enough and you’re gunna have to try your beat to remember how to do your job and learn it yourself. I got thrown in my first day of training with an employee for 10 minutes and she left me to do my job in the fitting room without realizing understanding what my job was. Management may not be great, they take don’t care much about you unless you have a good connection with the managers. In the course of two years working at ross all the original managers I’ve worked with got fired or quit. They will also have you clean up messes customers make such as when customers decide to used fitting rooms as restrooms. When I stayed at Ross till 2am picking up store messes, the cleaners who come in to mop etc were two random girls in pajamas doing the bare minimum and leaving after 30 min. The Store was always dirty -not just messy- DIRTY. Dust everywhere, dirt, broken items everywhere.

Thank you for your candid feedback. Training is key to developing and retaining our Associates and your experience is not reflective of the environment we’re trying to build. We hold our store managers to high standards, and what you’ve described here does not reflect the conduct we expect from our managers or management training we provide. We take your comments very seriously and appreciate the feedback, which helps us address your specific concerns.

Pros

Discount, that's it. There is nothing positive about a toxic abusive environment. And remember, I was a store manager and as the old saying goes, poop (going for the pg version) rolls downhill.

Cons

Box is big enough to list, where to begin? Hours are ridiculous, freight is atrocious, customers are filthy and rude, no support at store level, pay is horrible, benefits are mediocre at best, and stores are in need of serious renovation
