Pros

Some of the people who work here are wonderful individuals, you get okay benefits, and some of the clients just make it all worth while,

Cons

The management and clinical staff are impossible in most cases, you get treated very poorly, you don't make very much, the facilities are not in great condition, it is a very sad place to work

Pros

The only pro is helping the clients.

Cons

The workplace culture is toxic and hostile. Most coworkers are there just for the paycheck and do the bare minimum or less. Some are allowed to break the rules and mistreat the clients. Management is not supportive. They take too long to respond to problems, and ignore them if they can get away with it. They condone gossip and bullying. Some talk badly about staff behind their backs. Compliance/HR is not on your side and will interrogate employees over trivial complaints.

Pros

The pros are the health benefits and tuition reimbursement and building a relationship with some staff and residents.

Cons

Where to start? Anyone who stays there for more than 1 to 2 years needs to realize their are way too many opportunities than to stay in a place that doesn't value you. They believe in Favoritism, absolutely 0 consistency within the organization and even within county. Everyone does their own thing. Staff at county office tries to boss you around and do your job for you. They come up with new rules every day regarding scheduling which makes the job much harder than it needs to be. The receptionist acts like she's the CEO and has a nasty attitude. They do not have your back and they put you in unsafe situations then ask you what you could have done better. They are lazy and rather put you in unsafe situations rather than move residents for their own safety as well as staffs. My experience with my Coordinator was frustrating to say the least. She was a micromanager and yet avoided confrontation to discuss and rather email from a different site telling you Director said this and that which 90% of the time wasn't true. Although they like to pat themselves on the back with their pay which is 17/hr for Supervisor role, that is Amazon pay with hs diploma. Ridiculous. The staff at corporate get raises each year while we were told we would annually in replace of bonuses. Neither happened in 3 years and if it did it was by 2%. The sites need renovation and residents are living in substandard housing while the corporate office looks like a banks corporate office. During COVID, they did not tell staff if a site was a safety risk and still asked for coverage at those sites. Working there is in all aspects a risk to your mental and physical health. Their are too many games there and no one has the guts to speak up. Because there is staff shortage and extremely high turn over rate they let anything slide, even staff flat out refusing to do work and they let it slide. The place makes staff feel 0 motivation and question their purpose there. Burnout happens within 6 months. Unions- they discourage it because they don't want the negotiations with pay raises. Us at Middlesex realized that after Mercer signed up and got raises. Don't be fooled!
