Pros

-Very enthusiastic executives will get you in the door and wow you with opportunities -They pitch a rapidly growing company working cool technologies

Cons

-Management has asked their employees to give positive reviews to make the company look not as poor - Watch out! -Benefits are sub par for the DoD industry, the PTO policy is a joke -All employees are treated as easily replaceable, turn over rate is ridiculously high (among all levels: entry, mid, senior), no employee loyalty. Workers seen as 'second string' get shoved into a lab on-site until they quit. -After the promise of working on 'cool' projects in their advanced concepts wears off you realize there is no room for growth or skills improvement. No review system in place to track performances -Bi-polar leadership blames all faults on the workers who have left without ever trying to rectify the problem -They underpay engineers unless you negotiate a good salary coming in. After that don't expect any increases -SOLUTE's terrible reputation is scaring away any potentially good talent -Their impressive looking 'Lab' is a house of cards

First of all, it's very disappointing to read a review like this when most (if not all) these problems could have easily been addressed. As the management who asked employees to write reviews, I agree we did ask our employees to share their opinions about a year ago since we didn't have many, but we asked them to be honest, not inflate our positive reviews. Benefits are on par for the DoD industry (we share the benefits booklet with all new applicants); the PTO policy is pretty standard (though I'm sure everyone would love to take more vacation). I count on my employees to succeed, and would not be able to do my job without them, so I value them pretty significantly. Turnover rate has decreased significantly over the last 2 years. As a government contractor, some of the positions are on-site (all of the employees and positions are important to us). Sometimes we ask employees who work off-site if they will fill an on-site position, but we have never sent an employee on-site to do work who has asked not to, that would just be a bad business decision and lead to higher turnover. Once again though, all of the positions at the company are important, it doesn't matter if you work on-site or off-site. Since I run Advanced Concepts, I can tell you nearly all of my employees have talked to me about how many new skills they've picked up and technologies they've learned since coming on. Since all of our projects use a lot of new technologies, if you weren't learning a bunch of them to add to your resume you probably were not doing very well. We have an official review system, I just finished annual reviews with all of my employees. We pay our engineers very competitively. I have personally approved a number of raises this past year. I'm not sure what is meant by "house of cards" when referring to our lab. It's built with concrete, we have a bunch of real servers and technologies running here. We regularly give demos to actual customers. As far as I know Kevin Spacey has never visited. That's unfortunate you've talked to a bunch of former employees who have negative views of Solute; I encourage you to talk to some current employees.
