A large organization that's good to work for but not without its challenges.
Pros
The teams and other employees you work with, for the most part, are enthusiastic about their work and jobs. The university is a community unto itself and offers almost everything you'd expect to find in a small town but with a significant international/melting-pot atmosphere. During the late spring semester, for instance, there's a farmer's market outside one of the libraries. Student groups offer movies that range from Hollywood to small art films. The new president's "UB2020" vision promises to raise the university to a higher level.
Cons
Management is largely reactive and slow to adopt change. Management style is "old school": very much top-down, worker-bee. There doesn't seem to be a lot of respect for in-house expertise/talent; the vast majority of solutions are consultant or vendor delivered.
