Pros

The only pro here was the pay

Cons

Terrible work life balance. Some Managers begin their day at 5am, Stores open at 8am FYI. The company cares about money being made vs over working technicians. When an email comes out that they dont care about quality, they want to outrun it by doing more units per day. They throw away their "tenure" standards and over book both in shop and mobile technicians. They response is "so we can get a bonus this year." The company is privately owned and with most of their windshields on average costing between $50-100 while charging customers thousands of dollars. Overall the company has many tenured associated, most in double digits, the company likes to brainwash people with false promises. Too many instances of the company acknowledging their issues but choosing NOT to do anything about it was about the final straw I could take. A lot of the failures were due to low staffing on the warehouse, that caused bad quality parts shipped to stores, which caused a bad customer experience. The CEO was concerned more about how she looked to the public and I mean literal look. Caked make up for press consistently with her terrible videos sent every week. Efficiency at this company is terrible. Overall, the pay is great but not worth the headaches from every department from part sourcing to the warehouse to upper management.

Pros

Many teammates are genuinely dedicated and care deeply about the mission. Pay and benefits are competitive, and the company provides strong tools and systems. When leadership is present and supportive, the work can be meaningful and high-impact.

Cons

Senior & Executive Leadership engagement has become strictly performative. Attempts to connect with the team come across as symbolic rather than sincere, like 15 min "getting to know you" meetings scheduled months out that do little to build real relationships. It shouldn't be such a chore to have a connection with your skip level leader especially as the size of the team has dwindled so much. There are canceled 1 on 1s, no annual meetings for PLD. It's become completely siloed. Leadership is purely ego driven. Some leaders in particular are rarely around but still drive performance decisions, creating a disconnect that’s obvious to everyone but rarely acknowledged broadly. It's become a joke about how much PTO some leaders take and how disengaged they are. KPIs and metrics change constantly, and perception often outweighs actual results. It can feel less about performance and more about fitting a narrow leadership mold. Performance reviews and PIPs are used less for coaching and more for quietly managing people out in all areas of the business, sometimes those who were strong performers simply doing things differently. People are performance managed out and their positions planned to be backfilled or eliminated well before they're aware this is happening. Lots of retroactive case building which is terrible for morale. The rapid push toward automation and AI has replaced people faster than the organization can responsibly implement the technology. The rollouts are sloppy, training is minimal, and the extra work often falls to those left behind. The recent wave of changes has driven away some truly solid performers, people who were great for culture, collaboration, and stability. Those who didn’t fit the new mold have moved on, and honestly, it’s hard to blame them. There are NO opportunities for growth in PLD, Multiple positions and levels have been eliminated and there's no growth track in this space at all. There are almost no opportunities to cross train or get exposure to other functions, so you better love your role because you're staying in it for the long haul.

Pros

The training program was designed well and gave new recruits all the knowledge one would need whilst working the phones. All new hires were confident, well versed, and highly motivated by the time we were transitioned onto the sales floor. The excellent line up of trainings gave a hopeful impression of what was to come working at safelite. After a record breaking quarter thanks to the cash sales we were rewarded with Chick-fil-e. A little chicken sandwich and small waffle fry catered to our office thanks to the ever so generous Safelite Gods back in Columbus Ohio. All of the 4 bites it took to finish that value sandwich was worth way more than the 6 figure bonuses our masters received at the end of the year!

Cons

This is not a sales job in any right. It’s a repetitive quoting and scheduling position that is sure to be eliminated once AI gets rolled out. At the end of the call you are asked to then upsell the customer on NEW WIPER BLADES totaling $12 to $18 a pair. And you only get a percentage of that measly amount. Never mind the $1400 top of the line windshield you just talked the caller into paying out of pocket instead of going the insurance route. No that’s not for you silly! Once training ended the entire mood shifted, The “team leads” carried themselves with the same attitude you’d expect from a self proclaimed “popular kid” back in high school. Every team was entirely centered around favoritism. Your success is highly influenced, wait no, highly DEPENDENT on whether you’re the corporate useful idiot type. Life feels deflated on the sales floor. Those with tenure are all coincidentally the same type of person. The people who have been led to believe the life of a corporate shill, giving 40 years in the same little cubicle on flimsy promise that you might be able to one day retire at 68 on that 401k plan they’ve dangled above your head decade after decade just to end up teetering on the poverty line, your life’s work rewarded with no 401k match and depending on food banks so you don’t starve. Too poor to leave your senior citizen fixed income studio apartment and finally experience the world that’s passed by you. So you watch it through your television day after day until the sweet embrace of death comes to pay you the only real reward you’ll ever see. All of this so the investors can go live the life you only got to see in your dreams. You and all of your colleagues sacrificing their entire existence, a life chained to a tiny bleak cubicle creating wealth for someone else. The suffering and sacrifice of the many so the undeserving few can cash in on that easy life of abundance not even taking a second to show any gratitude or proper compensation for the riches they’ve cheated off you.
