Pros

Nystrom is wonderful about keeping employees up to date on changes in the company, and the benefits are satisfactory.

Cons

Lack of hazard pay/compensation during the pandemic. It is extremely frustrating to see that the majority of Nystrom employees have the option to work from home, but the others that don’t are not being compensated for putting themselves (and families) at risk. We get COVID-19 updates constantly for people working from home, but nothing in regards those who have to still deal with the public during this. I cannot afford to remove myself from work until this is over to avoid bringing something home to my family, and the fact that we aren’t valued during this is disheartening.

Pros

Well since I’m required to put something here I would have to say the only pro that comes to mind is occasional employee sponsored potlucks.

Cons

They will take away any PTO you have accrued upon turning in your notice of resignation. Even if you give 2 weeks, 2 months etc. Make sure you use ALL of your PTO before you give a notice. As it won’t be paid out. It’s just gone.

We're happy that you appreciated our efforts to create and maintain a friendly and professional atmosphere by sponsoring pot lucks as well as employee gatherings in which we provide lunch and desserts and recognize our employees for their contributions to make our workplace a wonderful place to work with mission and purpose. All of our employees are given information about our PTO policy in multiple formats which indicates that PTO is unable to be applied once someone resigns. This is specifically stated: 1. During the hiring process before someone accepts a position at Nystrom (both verbally and in writing). 2. In our Policy and Procedure manual which is distributed to staff and made available to staff. This is a practice that other agencies follow as well. We encourage staff to use up any accrued PTO in the event they intend to leave employment with our agency. We do not try to hide the fact that this is our policy.
