Pros

Very nice health insurance benefit.

Cons

I resigned after four months b/c, based on my experience, these are their priorities, in this order: 1) Media coverage, 2) Money, 3) People. It's no oversight that compliance isn't on this list. My impression based on numerous experiences is that Media and Money seem to be the end to which People are the means. Outside of myself, I never heard anyone at the management level or above show/verbalize any concern for patients. If I raised an issue about patients or compliance to department "Leadership," the response was "Can this fall back on us?" "Us" being the department, no concern/discussion about the effect on patients. Specific examples: 1) Several patients were enrolled in a research trial without their consent. A few days later, I was in a meeting in which department leadership was boasting about how much money that trial was making b/c they were enrolling patients so quickly and the positive media coverage it was receiving. It was one of many experiences that felt like a training video in which you have to identify all of the ethically questionable things that took place in the scenario. I sat there looking around at everyone in disbelief at what I was hearing. Then leadership began discussing plans to "go National." I then left the meeting b/c I didn't want any part of it. 2) An individual took patient imaging home to review on their personal device, without notifying patients or getting appropriate approvals/waivers to do so, 3) A doctor conducted his/her own human subjects research without the compulsory reviews/approvals (this third one was communicated to me by my boss, I never actually saw the "proof" myself). 4) The fourth example I can't even discuss b/c what I uncovered caused them to bring in "outside counsel" and I was told that the information was "privileged." Employee restrooms don't get regular attention... visible residue on surfaces accumulates and trash cans overflow. The company is dishonest about the PTO policy; it wasn't just a one-off with me, others told me they were lied to about PTO as well during the hiring process. Do NOT assume that HR is familiar with the PTO policy or anything else that a typical HR department would be knowledgeable about. Employees are made to practice "desk sharing" despite the fact that there is ample unused and available space. I saw two individuals sharing a corner oneday b/c they were required to be in the office despite not having their own dedicated workspaces. All that aside, google "Saint Lukes roaches." It's an interesting read. In my personal opinion, the physician quoted in that article is a great illustration of how ego is a guiding force at SL. There is this air of ego and pridefulness that seems to lead them to believe they can do no wrong, even in the face of documentation to the contrary. Within that article, you'll read that SL boasts about the new multi-million dollar sterile processing facility, as if roaches take a look at fancy facilities and turn around to go somewhere else. On my first day at SL, I saw a dead roach laying in the hallway on the B level (dead roaches and roach parts on B would become a regular sighting), which houses the neuroscience unit, inpatient pharmacy, and lab. I personally didn't think anything of it... the B Level is in the basement and roaches are a fact of life. Out of curiosity, I checked three days later and that same roach was laying in that same spot.

Pros

Work 3 days a week, critical staffing pay

Cons

Working at Crittenton is like playing Russian Roulette. Each shift, you walk through the doors and have no idea what is on the other side. The acuity of the patients continues to rise while the number of competent staff plummets. Staff are frequently put in uncomfortable and unsafe situations. Lots of workplace injuries due to acute patients and poor management. Management is very shady. Management is more than comfortable ignoring their employees emails. They have been caught lying to staff about certain policies/procedures. It is well know among staff that management will purposely block/delay your applications, if you attempt to transfer within the system. Also, this facility is very dirty. Unless you enjoy feeling unsafe and taken advantage of, do yourself a favor and run far away from this facility.

Toxic Culture

Pros

The PTO accrual is very nice, and you are exposed to a lot of new experiences clinically.

Cons

Favoritism is well seeded into the culture. One lead technician is favored over all others, including other leads. This particular lead technician makes arbitrary changes to the work flow of the front line techs, while said lead tech has not staffed in the workflow in months to almost a full year. Management has no regard for well being of employees and hold nobody accountable.
