Pros

By far biggest pro is the four day workweek in the summer. Nowhere else to put this, but someone shared the Sales Engineer pay ranges with me, and I thought they would be helpful to any prospective employees once the company actually starts hiring again (we had a 10% layoff in November 2022) Associate Sales Engineer: 70-80k base + 20k team-based commission Sales Engineer: 85-95k base + 30k team-based commission Sales Engineer 2: 110-130k base + 35k team-based commission Senior Sales Engineer: 130-145k base + 50k team-based commission Stock options are negligible in value.

Cons

- No 401k match. HR called 401k match "a running joke" because people keep asking for it - Customer Support team is not treated very well - Had a layoff in November 2022, and one in 2020 - Health insurance is not good

Hype but empty

Pros

They can be a hype machine and used to often win awards.

Cons

Comp is on par with other companies but work was challenging. TAM was very obviously being run out but salespeople were blamed. They tried to ramp contract cost up dramatically in a manner not aligned with the rest of the ecosytem and with a strategy that was ostracizing to clients. Weird toxic grind culture from top down for a product having issues with staying power. Many layoffs. Not a lot of consideration for employees, this is leadership's project, you're just along for the ride as a replaceable asset and butt in seat. Can see this in how they are moving jobs overseas. Said the pandemic was no big deal and then immediately had layofss because of the pandemic the moment there was a bump in the road. Two more rounds of layoffs followed. It was just very clear that they didn't have a lot of care for their employees, even in the way layoffs occurred. When asked for feedback on why it occurred, the answer was "is now really the time for that?" and then the call ended and I didn't have a job. Tried to bring in a crowd of heavy hitters but honestly it just made the culture turn a bit toxic.

Pros

There used to be pros, not sure they exist anymore.

Cons

Salsify used to have a great culture of knowledge sharing and excellent hiring processes to support customer base and growth. With Mike Milburn, the Customer Success and Support team drowned in excessive work loads during an extensive hiring freeze. Some directors on the CSM team do not advocate for their team's needs to reduce customer load and improve processes related to customer frustrations and complaints. Salsify allowed ridiculous SLAs and resourcing delays that caused friction and stress internally.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Salsify and this feedback with us. We are sorry to hear that your time with us did not live up to your expectations. We are aware of the challenges you raised, and are working hard to add headcount and create alignment around roles. We do realize that we will not always get it exactly right and therefore feedback (especially on our culture) from current and past employees provide an opportunity to learn and do better. Thank you again for your insight. It helps to make Salsify a better company for everyone. Best of luck!
