Pros

It is a nation wide company that you can transfer from club to club. This is a company that seems like it will be here no matter what the economic roller coasters bring. Many people say, "I am glad to have a job", and this is a place in which it is pretty good chance that they will not shut down.

Cons

The pay is not good (granted this is an entry level job), but I have been with the company 12 years, in the highest hourly paid level there is, and I still get federal assistance because I do not meet standards of living. The benefit premiums go up each year, but your raises (even a full raise), do not cover those benefit premium hikes each year. It is a retail business, so that in itself has a lot of cons.

Pros

easy food. very standard. From my experience the less you know about food service, then its a good beginner job.

Cons

they do not follow food codes. the person who was in charge of deli did not train her new employes. she left other people to do her part , ones that did not wish to train and would complain that they had to do so. the older employes had no drive to do things rite , would talk about sams club unfair pay and just took their time and did things ( their way) . they didnt like to be questioned and was quick to find ways to quiet anyone down. such as if a new employe did something wronge like as in not wash their hands after handling money, they would jump on the moment to go tattle tail. however they would pressure the new person in saying hurry up , joke and poke fun at them to get them to bend the rules. Lol , i guess this is how they show that they are good workers. Mangement doesn't care , they just dont want any new problems so they let them have their way. I admit i should learn to go with the flow, but i cant stand getting in trouble for something i already guessed was being done wronge . ( food temp is never the same. broken display case , flickering dimming out, refuse to buy proper pizza slicer, cleans floors and tables with bleach block because lack of cleaning the tables during the day. shuts done food earlier , tells customers that they are out of a product when they are not, sells their pizza doh in large bulk so that there is no doh to make pizza. improper shut down of equipment. just some pretty basic (donts) of food service i thought .
