Pros

Lots of responsibility. Constant change. Lots of opportunity to explore new places and introduce ideas. The work they do is good and needed.

Cons

Heavy handed senior management. Poor IHQ to field communication. Field has little input into programming. Stingy with salaries and benefits. Poorly organized. Limited room for opinions that are not Southern and Christian.

Pros

It is a fun and exciting environment where you can see where your works goes. It is amazing to see the impact of your work as it is seen on the faces of children and adults through the disaster relief efforts and OCC.

Cons

Too many big personalities and no one reins them in. Every executive feels that their area is the most important and no one seems willing to budge. In some areas managers aren't allowed to manage or make management decisions.

Pros

Samaritan's Purse is an international relief organization with evangelism at its core. It's great to work and know that you're making a difference in spreading the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to the nations as well as meeting their physical needs. Everyone here is working toward the same goal to help those devastated by natural disasters, famine, war, disease, and poverty. International Headquarters is located in the Appalachian Mountains next to the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's a blessing to see the surrounding countryside every day. There are many hiking trails, ski slopes, mountain lakes, and other natural wonders within a short distance. The internal work environment is as good as the external. Offices are nice and the housekeeping and facilities staff keep everything in tip-top shape. Employees have the opportunity to eat in the employee dining room for lunch for a reasonable fee. Salary is competitive as far as non-profits go. The benefit package with insurance, paid leave, and retirement plan is competitive with the corporate world.

Cons

Boone, NC is a resort town, so housing can be expensive. However, less expensive options are within a 30-minute commute. Salary may be a little low, but the job satisfaction in knowing you're doing eternal/social good makes up for it. Western North Carolina weather can be a little extreme in the winter compared to some areas. The pleasant summers help balance it.
