Pros

Technology HR Staff good at working to increase employee morale Decent Salary Good Benefits

Cons

The integrity of this company is very questionable. The lie to their customers about what they can provide them, which then leaves them scrambling trying to find the resources to do so. They also lie to their employees about what they expect from them, but when they oversell their abilities to their customers they expect the employees to act like they know what their doing. That was very hard for me because integrity is really important to me. I was really disappointed when realizing this low integrity because I had really wanted to work for this company for a very long time.

Integrity is very important to our culture here at Sentinel. We play a very important role in the operations of our client’s business, without integrity, we would not be able to hold the role of trusted advisor across industries, states and organizations. In addition, our reputation and strong commitment to excellence has allowed us to enjoy top partnerships with the biggest names in technology. Without our partnerships, without our clients, without a strong culture that attracts top talent, we would not have been able to recognize the success we have over the past few decades, all of this falls back on a strong reputation that includes a high degree of integrity. We appreciate the key benefits you highlighted in the “Pros” section. Those are important, and it’s great to hear they were fitting for the position.

Pros

This company has a lot of potential and talented people.

Cons

High amount of turnover for a company of its size. Management doesn't seem to take employees concerns very seriously. If they do, the company is incredibly slow to change/adjust things in a forward moving manner. There is very little representation of women in management which is concerning to the younger females in the office. There is also a lack of flexibility and no work from home options for a majority of the company. There are some departments that are more open, but overall they have an old school mentality when it comes to being in the office. Once again - this is not attractive for those (primarily women) who might need more flexibility due to having small children or even wanting to start a family. Some managers are some of the best I've witnessed in my career, unfortunately I have no idea how others have gotten to where they are at and kept their position. It's really unfortunate that so many talented people are leaving purely due to lack of growth opportunities and poor executive level management.

The technology industry as a whole is working hard together, and as individual companies, to find long-term solutions that will promote real change and growth to issues that the industry is facing. Touched on above are two of these key issues: women in tech and flexible schedules. Sentinel is dedicated to helping promote women in tech—even participating in local events to encourage the next generation of women to consider a career in technology. We are proud to have such wonderful role models, for the community and for our internal teams. We are also facing a changing workforce and are working hard to create an environment that is conducive to different styles of productivity, while retaining the high quality standard customers have come to expect. Our approach to flexible scheduling is based on the role, responsibility, and resources needed to be successful. We do have great team leads and managers in place who work closely with their teams and are able to share their thoughts on not only these issues, but also on overall operations and day-to-day improvements to the executive team, and the Sentinel team at large. This collaboration and open dialogue has led to great progress and changes that have moved our company forward. Our managers make it a priority to be in-tune with the needs of their team, and the individual goals of each person. Many employees, with the help of their managers, have found opportunities to grow by having multiple “careers” inside Sentinel, giving our talent a diverse skillsets and well-rounded development. Many of them have excelled to leadership positions, and now bring their diverse experiences to their roles, providing Sentinel a unique approach in the field. Sentinel has a lot of potential because our people have such amazing potential. We are disappointed your time with us fell short of your expectations and since you are a current employee, we would encourage you to speak directly with one of those outstanding managers you mention so we can clearly understand and address the challenges you cite. The feedback we gather from sources like this, as well as internally help Sentinel continue to grow.
