HR is a nightmare

Pros

Some people that work there are great! If you are in the "in-crowd" you'll make a lot of money and be treated very well Benefits are pretty good

Cons

If you are a woman, be prepared to take a step backwards. The only career path available to you is as an administrative assistant or in HR. HR is mean. They are vindictive and will laugh at you if you come to them with a serious allegation or issue. If you notice - any 1 or 2 star ratings are not taken seriously by management. They are argued with (my guess is by HR) and the poster's concerns are belittled. There is no way this business will continue much longer. They are a discrimination lawsuit waiting to happen. Minorities and women have no place in this company.

We take the opinions and concerns of our employees, both online and internally, very seriously. A common misconception is that technology is not a “people” industry, but in reality, our success has always been based on having the best people. That is what we focus on, who is the best person for the role or team, regardless of age, race, gender or any other factor. We’re proud of how many employees have grown their careers with us. A great example of this is Kelly, our current Advanced Regional Territory Coordinator. She shared the story of her 20+ year career with Sentinel, moving up from her first position at the Parts Window, under the “Our Stories” section on our Glassdoor homepage.

Pros

Free soda is great! Also enjoy the vintage office chairs. Starting out here is important to get on the right team - If you are part of the "swamp" then you can ride the wave and live large. You can look forward to sitting in meetings that have some value or direction however you will learn more about all the latest about your vendors and past employees. The marketing team is out of this world bursting with ideas! The brochures are from a vintage collection dating back to companies early years, your electronic copies are designed with word and best suited for a fax market to local elderly care facility directors. Your manager will provide you with your " Sentinel Pitch" and ask for you to give it at any time. This will keep you ready for battle at any given time ( *Disclaimer* Some managers may not accurately give "The Pitch" )

Cons

Leadership has very poor control of the company branches and branch level management. The training is comparable to a set of IKEA instructions written in white ink. Not a good choice for anyone that is looking to have dynamic experiences and broaden your skills, become part of "team" or long term employment. No house accounts provided to new employees. Project side of the company over works the technical guys most projects are riddled with problems, delays and customer satisfaction performance issues. Unprofessional language, poor attitude towards women My prediction is this company will be sold within the next 24 to 36 months.

We’re disappointed to hear the experience of this former employee was not favorable. We do not have a ‘Business Development Manager’ title at Sentinel, but based on other comments in this review it sounds like this individual worked in Sales. Sentinel has high expectations for our team members. In Sales, we look for sales reps who are proactive in their approach, and have a compensation packages that rewards their hard work. We also provide the resources they need to assist their clients. Each Sales team member receives tremendous support from across the company: pre-sales engineers attend calls and design solutions; administration provides materials and all customer facing documents; a large and talented group of technicians performs implementation; project managers organize and manage delivery of those solutions; and post-sales support ensures continuing care is provided. This team approach sets us apart from other organizations, and has been highly regarded by our sales team. As we continue to grow, keeping the connection between offices, departments and teams will remain a cornerstone of Sentinel culture. We have a Sentinel Sales Manual available on our internal portal for our teams to access and use as a supplement to their training. For general Sentinel marketing information, all of our offices have custom one-pagers that match our overall design concept - these are professionally printed and crafted for our clients. Our new website design was met with positive feedback, and we continue to add and grow the site, especially on the customer facing side. We also have a very, very active presence across all major social media outlets to connect with partners, clients and employees. While it is always disappointing to hear that our efforts have fallen short as expressed here, we are proud to have such a strong rating among our clients and our employees and we will consider this feedback in our continuous quest to make Sentinel an outstanding place to work.
