Pros
This is too big of a company to give one or five stars. The overall quality is somewhere in the middle. While I worked at Simplot, I noticed that there is very high work culture variability. Some offices are far better off than others, and it is important to ask around and do a bit of research before you apply here. The group and role you find here really matters. If you find a good spot at Simplot, here are some pros: - Good fit for someone with children and looking to settle down - Huge and stable - Rewards loyalty and tenure - Pay for senior roles seemed to be competitive for Idaho - There are some good managers and co-workers that improve the experience - Boise is a wonderful town to call home, and it's growing fast
Cons
Many of the people at Simplot have worked there for a long time, and if you are trapped in a situation with poor management, it is unlikely anything will change for the better. There is not much oversight on the work culture across the company. In my opinion, this has to change for the organization to be an overall favorable place to work. There is also not much opportunity to move up and establish a fruitful career here quickly. Things take a lot of time, and for the younger folks, that can be a big issue. If you want a fast-moving career with high expectations for yourself, don't work here. To summarize: - Rotten apples spoil the bunch depending on the office - Culture is behind the times - Slow-moving career - Lack of opportunities - Health Insurance plan was one-size-fits-all, and suited for families/seniors - Seniority provides a LOT of benefits - Little recognition for good work

Where to start? From the outside this might seem like an innovative and collaborative place to work, but nothing could be further from the truth. You are discouraged from presenting ideas through behind the scenes intimidation. Promotions and professional opportunities are often without merit and reflect ones ability to lie and kowtow. Sexual harassment/discrimination is common.
