Pros

Great work life balance and vacation time....

Cons

Many internal issues and felt like this last round of layoffs was to protect inadequate leaders vs hardworking employees. I understand companies do layoffs but this just felt like Senior management trying to protect themselves because they aren't doing an effective job. I really think there are some issues with the leadership team and it probably needs an overhaul. There was never any strategy from product outside of one small area. The rest of the business was left without any guidance or support. I really think the US/UK shared services model does not work. The UK and US just are entirely different markets and the UK at the end of the day doesn't really care about the US nor move as quickly.

Pros

I feel part of a great team here, I’m surrounded by people who genuinely are here to make a difference. In addition to the usual benefit offerings there are great benefits that are easy to take for granted - food and soft drinks always available in the hubs, company trips abroad, annual awards event, and an annual Wellfest with focuses on social, financial, physical and mental health. SB does a lot of things well.

Cons

It helps to have an internal network to get things done as processes for cross department collaboration can be hard to understand (or non existent)

Pros

Unrivaled Flexibility: The current hybrid model is very reasonable, typically requiring only 8 days in the office per month. It feels like a genuine balance rather than a forced mandate. Trust-Based Culture: Work-life balance isn't just a buzzword here. Managers truly trust you to own your deliverables. If you need to head out early for your kid's recital or a doctor’s appointment, the autonomy is there as long as the work gets done. Flagship Events & Heritage: The company does a fantastic job of maintaining its "startup soul" even as we scale. The Annual Trek is a major highlight. Last year’s 4-day trip to Portugal was incredible, it's exciting to see what this year's Trek is. It’s also impressive to see how these traditions have successfully evolved with the organization. Perks that Matter: Small touches like free lunch on Wednesdays go a long way in making office days more enjoyable. Strong Vision: Leadership is visibly committed to employee engagement and has a clear, dedicated roadmap for scaling our presence in the US market.

Cons

Global vs. Local Clarity: With the organization split between the US, UK, and Shared Services, the lines can occasionally get blurred. We could benefit from more clarity regarding which initiatives are US-specific versus global to help streamline communication.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. It's fantastic to hear that our startup soul is still shining through as we continue to scale our presence in the US. Hearing that our hybrid model and trust-based culture provide you with the genuine autonomy you need is exactly why we prioritize flexibility. We’re also thrilled you enjoyed the trek to Portugal; we agree that maintaining those flagship traditions is a huge part of what makes us Simply Business. Our leadership team is hard at work on that US-specific roadmap, and we’ll keep leaning into that transparency to make sure our global structure helps our speed. We’re glad to have you on the journey as we continue on this journey together!
