A great place to work

Pros

The culture at SEPA is one of the best reasons to work here. I have great relationships with both my direct colleagues and executives and enjoy working with everyone here. There is an atmosphere of "work hard, play hard." When in the office, we do a lot of work but we have a generous amount of time off and when we're out of the office, that is respected. There is no expectation to be "on" 24/7. There is a genuine interest in helping employees gain professional skills both to use at SEPA and beyond. SEPA is well respected in the electric power sector and there are many opportunities to learn about more than just your specific job function.

Cons

SEPA can be a flat organization. Employees tend to stay for a while because it's a good place to work, so upward mobility can be challenging. Priorities tend to change quickly and a lot, you need to be comfortable with change.

Making positive change in the electricity sector

Pros

- We get to help our members implement renewable energy on a massive scale. We are the embodiment of "the little engine that could" - The people are dedicated and fun to work with - a great life/work balance that is encouraged at every level of the organization - SEPA is fast and nimble. We are always trying to be a little ahead of the curve for our members. - Very little bureaucracy. If there's a better way to do things, you are encouraged to be the improvement. Your ideas matter

Cons

- So many great ideas, so little time. Fast moving can be disruptive. If you are not comfortable with change, SEPA might be a challenge - We always try to promote from within, however it's not always possible either because of experience or specialized skills. I can see why this might frustrate some people - In a collaborative environment, meetings can take up your day if you're not careful

Pros

Fabulous mission Clear expectations for organizational goals through 2020. Fun and intelligent staff Excellent work-life balance with limited expectation for work outside of 9-5

Cons

Quite a bit of work travel Recent acquisitions mean plenty of change to staff, mission and culture Flexibility of having remote staff means limited face time with key team members
