Pros

Ability to learn something new every day. Anyone who wants to dig in and learn, there is a vast level of knowledge you can learn. This is transferred into opportunities within the company. It's really nice to see a product described in a specification, review the drawing and then actually see it and answer questions as it is built on the factory floor. I enjoy working with a very good team of knowledgeable technical staff who will work with you to solve customer's ever changing environmental challenges. It's also really nice to go home and know that what I've done at work helps keep Earth a little nicer. Really nice to give back. We have 70+ years in business. With the wave of retirements, it is fun to watch us integrate the new team members into the S&L system. Many new systems and ideas are being integrated into S&L as we're in the process of reinventing ourselves for next 70+ years.

Cons

Due to retirements, there has been a lot of knowledge retire too - 45 years of knowledge, 35 years, 40 years, 37 years.........Longevity of employees has been great. We have had a large wave retire. The challenge now in front of us is to bring new people up to speed on our technical product line, and integrate them into our system. We're learning from their other experiences and incorporating some of those systems and ideas, when it makes sense.

Pros

Friendly co-workers, flexible boss for short notice time off for kid illness, etc. Ten paid holidays per year and six personal days.

Cons

Lower pay than comparable positions elsewhere, dysfunctional policies which prevent ability to excel and produce superior product, everyone gets the same annual salary increase regardless of performance review results.
