Pros

- WFH option available. - Equipment is provided to you. - Decent pay but still below living wage. - $120 bi-weekly lunch card that can be used for anything. - Full kitchen available at office. - Benefits are among the best of any job I've had. - This is a job you can do from home while searching for a new, better job. They're understaffed because the turnover rate is so high.

Cons

- Training is a mess. After two years of virtual training they still have not figured it out. - Direct supervisors are not qualified or knowledgable enough to answer direct questions regarding the day to day work, instead relying on floor walkers that are outnumbered 20-1. - If you do have a question for a floor walker, because they are outnumbered, you will likely have your member on hold for 4+ minutes at a time, resulting in an irate member. - Upper management is constantly pushing the "Refer The App" promotion which does not work properly. And when that does not work, MSR's that are on the front line take the full blame and frustration from members. However, SoFi's sole focus is gaining as many members as possible, no matter how ineffective the methods are. Not to mention most of the people that take advantage of this promotion are "gamers" and not real people or repeat applicants that abuse the promotion. - Upper management will praise MSR's, but don't forget that their bottom line is their #1 priority. They don't have to speak with irate members, you do.

Hi there - thank you so much for leaving such a comprehensive review of your SoFi experience. While we're happy to hear you enjoyed some of the benefits and flexible work we offer our employees, we are very saddened to hear your time with us did not meet your expectations. We know that building an amazing workplace starts with world-class managers, that's why the #1 priority of our Learning & Development team is manager excellence. We are revamping the program so we can give our managers the tools, resources, and training they need to support their teams - this includes our Associate Managers on the MSR team, too. We have shared your feedback with Operations leadership to ensure they are aware of your feedback. Plus, you may have left before we revamped training for MSRs, which includes additional up-skilling, an updated new hire training, and SOP updates being done by L&D. Additionally, we have added more virtual floorwalkers to support the day-to-day of the MSR team. Wish you the best in your next job. Take care.

Can be amazing, but hypocrites abound

Pros

I started in an office environment that was the best work environment I have ever been a part of. There was unity and cohesion behind the mission and values. People came to work happy, and left happy. That same spirit of unity, cohesion, and fun has largely persisted in my individual team, which I consider to be the finest group of people I've ever had the pleasure to work with. Post-pandemic, SoFi has slowly come around to allowing full-time, permanent remote work as an option. More than any other company, SoFi has fostered my personal career growth and compensated me fairly, which is more than I can say for other companies I've worked for.

Cons

After the pandemic, lots of things changed at SoFi. It's not worth getting too much into the details, but suffice it to say that not everyone is a believer in the mission and values at SoFi, particularly some select few at the C-level and in C-level staff. Or, if they are, then they are hypocritical, because they often act at variance with the mission and values. Quality of life at SoFi depends very much on the people in your immediate circle. In that sense, joining SoFi is very much like any other company ... one bad manager or coworker really can spoil it. This unfortunate circumstance is happening somewhat frequently these days. The most devastating indictment I can level is that more than one person that I knew and really enjoyed working with pre-pandemic have left SoFi not because they didn't like the company or its mission or didn't like the work they were doing, but because dealing with some of the egomaniacs in power there had simply become intolerable.

First off, THANK YOU to the 3+ years you have dedicated to working at SoFi. What a ride it's been! We're so happy to hear that SoFi has supported your growth - we know our people are our greatest differentiator, so one of our top goals is to make sure they have opportunities to grow and feel valued. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we all work, collaborate, and communicate. We've heard from our employees that y'all value flexibility, so we hope you feel supported by your manager and team to make the best working-environment decision for you. We look forward to the day when we will open our offices for those who choose to come in. Building a world-class culture starts with leadership, and your feedback around toxicity is not reflective of the type of environment we are working to create. If you're comfortable, we'd like to continue the conversation so we can address your concerns directly and work to improve this aspect of your SoFi experience. If you're open to it, please email us at glassdoor@sofi.org or reach out to your PBP directly. Constructive feedback like yours ONLY makes us better, so we sincerely thank you for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful and candid review.

Pros

-There are handful of people that genuinely care. -Getting a good boss is imperative and make or break. -SoFi has good values.

Cons

-SoFi’s values are NOT mirrored in their culture in anyway shape or form. -SoFi is a breeding ground for micro-aggression, micromanaging, and tone-policing. -Feedback is a one way street. Do not even think of speaking to your manager. -Not a safe space to work for bipoc -Culture improvements are a lip service at best. -Mental acrobatic skills required to work here.

First and foremost, thank you for the 3+ years you have dedicated to working at SoFi! We appreciate your candid review. We utilize Glassdoor to not only give candidates a glimpse into what it’s like to work at SoFi, but also to compile, listen to and act on feedback from our employees - so we take your review very seriously. Many of your comments are not indicative of the type of culture we are trying to build. We are committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels welcomed, included, and able to contribute. That starts with having a world-class management team. We recently hired a Learning & Development leader who is focused on manager excellence. We will soon roll out a series of trainings to give all SoFi managers the tools and resources to support and inspire their teams. Lastly, we highly encourage you to explore some of the support resources we have for employees around mental health and burnout by visiting the Benefits Mall or reaching out to our Benefits team directly. The continued WFH environment and ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is causing a lot of stress for many working professionals, and your health is of the utmost importance! If you would like to share additional feedback, you can reach out to me directly, or email us at glassdoor@sofi.org. Thank you again for your thoughtful review. -Ana
