Pros

This job is an okay way to get into working for the feds.

Cons

The workloads are unmanageable, the work place culture is toxic, and there is limited advancement. There isn't enough time to get all of the work done in the day, yet claims keep coming and so do the requests from management to do more. This job is much more than just taking applications and learning slow systems, it is also a glorified reception role. You will answer phones, work reception, get yelled at by the public, and hear sad stories all day. It gets to you.

Pros

The agency was forced to let all employees work from home for the past 2.5 years due to Covid, providing staff with a much better work/life balance.

Cons

All decisions affecting the actual workforce in the field offices (you know, the faces you see and do business with!) are made by executives that are so far removed from operations that they have no idea what the &$#^ they’re even doing! Terrible place to work anymore especially for those in the field who are doing ALL the work!

Pros

It's a government job with pretty good benefits.

Cons

Production! Production! Production! I've been employed almost a year and 42 people already left while I started working at my site. The higher ups are having trouble maintaining staff because the job is too difficult. I wish I would have known this job was a production job because I probably would not have accepted this role.
