Pros

Good benefits, medical, dental, and free cable, internet and home phone services. . Call center is open 24 hours.

Cons

It's a bad company for people with goals. I was there five years and seven months. Never got promoted once. I did everything that was recommended. They stopped allowing employees to work part time, took away all encouraging and fun programs, that made it worth working in a call center. Call centers are one of the top stressful jobs taking those things away caused most harm. I tried over 13 times to move up in the company but management picks favorites not most qualified . Part time is important for those wanting to go back to school. Months after they refuse to work with me so I could go to college I left. And will never go back. You can not pick your own hours. They no longer allow shifts to be traded. They don't care about their employees. They are never happy no matter how good you do they always find something to complain about. When I was meeting all my goals the supervisor complain that I didn't volunteer for unpaid company events. Like I own them. I use to really like charter and now I hate them just as much as I use to like them. Management not on the same page,if you ask three people the same question you will get three different answers. I could go on for hours but I have homework.

Pros

You get free cable, internet and phone service. The benefits are pretty good but have changed a lot over the years. Good 401k contributions. Good training program.

Cons

Local management is too "clicky", making it hard to advance. Some of the performance metrics are counter-productive. The company often causes problems with the equipment in customer's homes which cause a huge headache for employees on the front line and in the field. If you try to switch departments, the salary changes and you can't do a lateral move. The last few interviews I had were a huge pay-cut so moving around to gain experience is not economically sensible.

Pros

The benefits are great. The health insurance is decent, you get paid time off (both vacation and sick time), free cable, internet, and phone, and potential to move up in the company.

Cons

The customers are awful. They are either really dumb and/or ignorant, or they're just plain mean. They will make you feel like you're personally responsible for the issues they're having. Being on the phone all day, taking call after call, is mentally draining. Management also has placed a LOT on our plates about what is required of us. There are only 5 factors on our scorecards, but we're really responsible for a whole lot more than that. You can get really great responses from customers, but if you don't follow the script, you're docked quality points.
