Pros

Pay isn't bad for a gas station. Making 15 a hour, and weekly pay.

Cons

It's like high school. Miss 1 day for an emergency and your going to be mistreated. No perks for working with them. You pay what everyone else does. Not even discount on fountain drinks.

Pros

People are decent. You get free water. You're at a gas station so you don't need to worry about going out of your way to fuel up your car.

Cons

No employee discounts. Salary sucks, upon much reflection. No on-the clock meals paid for by the company, a company which makes well over 500 million in just a year alone. Management ranges from serviceable to incompetent. Nothing ever gets fixed, or if it does, it's such a slap-dashed affair that it may as well have been left broken to begin with. Recent new hires have ranged from mediocre to downright atrocious. The work asked doesn't justify the salary. Quality of life improvements are a rarity, and almost never actually improve the workspace. The uniform policy is obnoxious and intrusive. The food you are allowed to buy (with what little money they give you) is lousy, and too expensive on top of it. The music played on the over-head speakers is downright agonizing. People that should've been fired for legitimately important reasons are never fired, you have to TRY to be fired from there, it's pretty sad.

Pros

Speedway provides good benefits. The health insurance is pretty good.

Cons

Speedway expects general managers to work as much as 80 hours per week. Often times, they place managers in situations where they are unable to take any vacation time. When I left, I attempted to receive compensation for my vacation time, which was not used since I joined the company. Human Resources never returned phone calls. I was not paid for my vacation time. Speedway does not care about an employee's desire to balance work and life. I was stuck at a store for over 24 hours because employees called off. When an employee did arrive to relieve me, I had to stay additional hours to do a "carton scan". The District Manager demanded that it be done now and did not care if I already put in over 20 hours in the store. While the benefits are good, the wages are low. Senior management tolerated a manager padding their timesheet yet would severely punish an employee for taking a cup of coffee.
