Pros

Decent Software Service. Positive and friendly people. Decent training. Senior Management seems engaged and seems to care about the company.

Cons

You don't receive any form of benefits until 6 months after your start date - why is that? The turnover rate is staggering, and SpotOn knows that. No matter what they say in the interview process or in the job description, this is a door-to-door, OUTSIDE SALES position. They will never stop talking about how you need to enter into businesses unannounced, trying to win over business owners without representing SpotOn. They want you to walk into the business pretending to be a normal customer, "befriending" the owner of the business and then casually slipping into conversation SpotOn when the "moment is right." One of the people they had speak about finding success in the role (a district manager who used to be an Account Executive) gave a speech about how you need to be "a sociopath with empathy". I recommend that SpotOn googles the definition of sociopath. I understand you need to be tactful and strategic in Sales roles but this method just reeks of deception. They want you driving around in your vehicle out in the "field" all day. One more time - this is an OUTSIDE SALES job. They won't say that until you're hired. 100% commission based. If you are looking for guaranteed income or some form of stability, I would recommend looking elsewhere. They're honesty about how hard this job is might seem refreshing, but all it is is an indicator of how bloated the industry is. I can't even count how many times throughout the training process they said things like "If you aren't willing to work 80+ hour weeks, this job is not for you" or "This is the most difficult sales job you will ever have" - not very motivational. No sane person wants to work 80+ hour work weeks. Put that in the job description if its so important to finding success in the role!

That's not accurate though? It doesn't take 6 months to get benefits? And yes - we try to expectation-set. Field sales is hard. But you know what? I think we're all fortunate to have those career prospects. So "hard" is all relative. I'd be surprised if we're using the phrase "sociopath" or requiring 80 hours to be successful. It's obviously not accurate. But we'll make sure we clean it up. Best, RJ

Pros

Seemingly good hardware...just don't know if it's real because I have never seen it (because the company never showed it to me!) Reporting seems good, just don't know if it's real (again). Anyone can fabricate these marketing videos, but a real company would send hardware and software demos TO THEIR SALES PEOPLE so that they can properly sell this product.

Cons

This place is a real piece of work. I worked here for five months and never once saw the product I was selling. Now that I am with a REAL payment processing company, I can tell you this for certain: A REAL payment processing job will TRAIN YOU IN PERSON on the product, introduce you to clients, take you on sales calls, and invest in your success. They will never blink if you ask to see the hardware you are selling, or if you need to take one to demonstrate to a client what they would be buying. A REAL payment processing company does these things. SpotOn does not. They tell you you have to make sales to get things like that. They tell you to go for "low hanging fruit". They don't properly educate you on PCI compliance or processing rates. They are not as transparent as they claim. They are expanding into every state constantly hiring people they view as disposable, and investing nothing else into them. Their zoom trainings cost no money except for whatever Alizah's salary is. Divide that by their thousands of trainings a year and the fact that majority of the people I trained with never got their training bonus, and this company expects you to sell water to a fish while exerting no energy to make sure you can do it correctly. The expectations are unrealistic in comparison to what they invest in you. Again, as soon as I left this company for a competitor, the competitor set me up with a home office, high speed internet, hardware inventory, and spent weeks training me (while I was on a salary), preparing me to go into the community and make them look good. They made sure my family was fed, and said they wanted me to be with them for years, so they saw the value in doing this. SpotOn is slowly, but surely, ensuring their reputation will be destroyed by the end of 2021 at the rate they turnover employees. Every single manager and executive I worked with was an out of touch white male boomer that had no idea what the climate was like for this product. Good luck, new hires. I would avoid this scam. Unfortunately, SpotOn preys upon vulnerable people looking forward to the empty promises in front of them...and they know it. For having so many MBAs on their team, they truly have no concept of how to run an effective sales business.

Wow - pretty aggressive claims here. I'll take a hard look in the mirror as I don't want to dismiss this out-of-hand, but I'm disappointed you feel this way and disagree with you...especially as it relates to our team and our integrity. If you'd like to have a conversation, I'd love to have it. Otherwise best-of-luck with your new endeavor. Best, RJ

Pros

This portion is a challenge to complete. The small company is great with a mom/pop type of business which they like to take advantage of. I will admit the success of the payment side of the company, they do a great job....again - taking advantage of the small businesses. As a former team member in HQ, they would often ridicule the Merchants, Sales Partners, and Employees. The management team provided a successful daily fraternity style of fist bumps and simply laughing at not only the merchants, but the Sales Partners as well. Junior Varsity at best. If you were not from the parent company, you were worthless. Great for the participants.

Cons

Are you looking for a decent compensation? Are you looking for a structured review process or a competent HR team? This is not the company to get involved with. Several team members mentioned the pay they received and it was sickening - below poverty in California. After my year long employment, I felt the need to write a review. There are several 'executives' that will take advantage and don't care. Please research prior to doing business with SpotOn.

We're sorry to see that it seems you had a negative experience here. Having worked here, you know that we place a large premium on transparency, teamwork, and innovation. We invite *any* employee to raise any concerns they have with their experience here. You also know that each employee has a direct line of communication to the founders as well as the president, and they legitimately care about the culture here. We're building a company from the ground up, and acknowledge that the pace and structure aren't for everyone.
