Pros

Good salary and benefits. No week-ends or major holidays. For experienced OR nurses this is a good gig. The parent company has a SNAP program to provide intensive training for nurses who want to specialize in the operating room or PACU/Pre-Op. This is an excellent opportunity for new nurses who want to specialize in a critical care area. This is part of the HCA St. David's chain, which won the Malcom Baldridge National Quality Award. It is the only health care company that has won this award, so I think that says something about the facility.

Cons

Hours can be long on busy days. It's a surgery center, so expect strong personalities and have a thick skin!

Pros

Director and nurse manager are sweet, most of the nurses are nice, they're pretty good about letting you set your schedule and they allow 8 hr shifts

Cons

Doctors are very rude and unprofessional, cursing and yelling at nurses routinely. Also they are not following best practice guidelines in oxytocin administration.

Pros

I enjoyed the people I worked with. My boss was very loving, took me under her wing like a daughter. I also enjoyed some of the benefits. I got a greatly reduced gym membership at Golds when I worked at the hospital. I also felt they were very well organized.

Cons

The lunch breaks were short, the staff were often over-worked and tired, there was a lot of drama a lot of the time. I managed to not become involved with most of the drama, but I found it exhausting.
