Pros

you have the Staples name behind you....that is pretty much it

Cons

Salary is low, commissions are low, benefits are garbage compared to some smaller companies I have worked for. Not very family oriented, constantly micromanged with emails, meetings and conference calls. Not given enough time to actually sell because of "back office work". "Make sure salesforce is up to date." Sales people do their jobs as far as closing the deals, but when the customer receives the product it is incorrect probably 75% of the time. Worst culture I have ever worked for. Hiring is horrible, The production associates in the Copy and Print Centers have no incentive to do a good job and are 18 years old so they could care less how the products come out. DSM and DM's are basically full of crap and constantly lie. Company moves money around to look profitable aka not paying expenses so that the store lookd profitable at the end of the year. Technology as far as computers given to sales people are like 10 years old. They DO NOT pay expenses (cell, business travel, etc). And policy's change so frequently not only the clients, but the employees can barely keep up.

Pros

I started with the company many years ago and was extremely happy to work for a retail giant that actually cared about customer service. When a member of corporate would visit the store they never asked about sales numbers or what we could do to better meet margen goals. They asked about how we could better help the customers that came into the store and how we could better make sure they were satisfied with what they were getting.

Cons

The customer service thing has gone out the window in the past few years. They are now trying to compete with Best Buy and have absolutely no idea how to do it. This leds to the little guy (store associates) getting "disciplined" for not meeting outlandish sales goals without having been given any solid sales training. I have worked in several stores and the major problem a the store level is always communication. The in-store management staff spends a good deal of time chatting with each other, but whatever decisions they're making don't get rolled out to the associates. Again this results in the associates getting "disciplined" for a verity of reasons.

Pros

Simple steady work as long as your willing to work for nothing and allow yourself to be treated like dirt.

Cons

Slave labor, bossholse are common, political games, bullying on the job is permissible.
