Lies and layoffs

Pros

Competitive pay is only upside

Cons

Just weeks after being promised they were hardly affected by the SVBank crash, and had enough work to keep us all employed for 2 years of a recession, yesterday in Colorado they laid off any employee who had not yet been with the company for a year. After all the lies this year, majority of the employees who are left at the Denver location, no longer trust this employer. They lied and hired guys for a new Colorado Springs location that they never opened and then pulled our commute pay even though we'd be travelling further alot more now that there would be no Springs location. The only manager worth his salt was let go in the layoffs and now the guys are stuck with a manager who constantly lies and disseminates information to make himself look good. He does not communicate effectively with his crews and seems to always have an excuse or simply "doesn't remember" handing down orders. Never answers his phone for important calls for purchasing material even though he tells us to purchase the material, then doesn't pick up to pay for the material which causes us to take time off the job. Been paying for Dental and vision for a year and a half and still have not recueved any of my information to utilize these insurances.

Pros

Company mission, learned great skills.

Cons

Huge gender pay gap at a company with a female founder/CEO. No career development, promises of raises for over a year. I left Sunrun, after 4 years and several promotions, earning the same amount of money I did on day 1. Adding skills and the opportunity to learn should be part of every job - you can't say this is substitution for compensation -this is a workplace not a university.

Pros

Friendly Co-workers, eco pass provided

Cons

Work-life balance is non existent. I accepted the PC role despite the extremely low pay, because I wanted to apply my energy to a company making a difference. Unfortunately I was quick to learn this is like any other corporate giant that underpays and undervalues its employees, and the CEO is celebrated on the Forbes 40 under 40 list. While the work is extremely easy and repetitive, a combination of an enormous workload (150-200 projects at a time), the sales teams running rampant, the expectation for PC's to field inbound calls for customers outside their own project load, and the companies consistent demand for overtime makes the job unreasonable. Paid time off is extremely limited and when requested, management pressures you to work overtime instead of taking time off. After making numerous attempts to suggest process and quality improvements, I have given up after receiving no replies at all. There is not a Project Manager role, so all PM duties fall on the PC, along with all other process gaps that the company refuses to acknowledge. While the company claims to be customer and "human" focused, it is clear through managements tunnel vision communication that customer service is only a pain they have to deal with, and the customer is just a kilowatt of energy they can profit off. There is no quality control or accountability for the sales teams, so PC work largely consists of cleaning up the mess created by the negligent sales teams.
