A bad business model, worse management

Pros

Work From Home I have made a lot of friends at SDC.

Cons

Company is run on a micro budget by a management team that mainly reacts. Their technology is a collection of home grown and 3rd party products that is constantly breaking, and antiquated. The only time they change anything is when they are forced to and then off course that breaks. Voice quality is so bad I call back about 1/2 of my customers. They outsourced Sales to a bunch of clueless script readers in the Philippines and have to be losing a small fortune in terms of refunds and work that never gets billed. Management is in the process of running off senior techs and replacing them with cheaper junior techs. Outside of the junior techs being hired, no other positions are being filled when people quit, so promotion opportunities are non-existent.

Pros

Decent pay, optional benefits, some decent tech documentation. Nice to be able to work from home.

Cons

Management changes teams all the time. No clear goals or rules about what to offer the customer. For example one manager might tell you to support the customer's manual configuration of their firewall, the next one will tell you that we can't help them.

Pros

1. WFH, Tax writeoffs. 2. Health Bennys are decent.

Cons

1. No raises ever, ever. 2. Rules /Policy change all the time. 3. Workload gets harder based on new business needs, and no pay raise to reflect it. Ever. 4. They will squeeze you for anything and everything. 5. Good luck trying to use your earned vacation time. Also company does not give enough vacation time per employee. No paid sick time is provided, you must use your vacation time. 6. No matching 401k, what is the point of 401k if employee doesn't match. 7. People that work out of NYC get paid the same as someone out in the sticks. Cost of living is not a factor at SDC at all. 8. They took Overtime pay on holidays away 9. They took some of our Holidays away, budgeting issues I asume. 10.They raised health insurance by more than 10%, but we still got no raises. 11. You cannot pay any real bills with what you walk away with here. Not kidding. 12. They fired 200 US based employees at the drop of a dime. 13. They outsource, even though they told us US employees they never would. 14. You used to get paid an extra 10-15% on top of you hourly. Based opn what hours you worked. They took that away also. 15 They will also force you to work Overtime when they see it fit for their needs.
