Your home is a prison.

Pros

Being able to work at home is pretty nice, along with paid time off (assuming you can actually use it), and medical coverage. That's where the benefits end.

Cons

Originally this job was a nice job, however over the years it's become more like a prison then a job. You have no real choice over which shifts you are assigned to, only the possible chance to have something that might work for you. Corporate treats their work at home employees like they're just numbers, because we aren't actually face to face with them. Policies change all the time, without any real notice to anyone. Supervisors themselves don't even really have an idea of what's going on. The communication in the company is next to none. The people I work with are great, however I've never seen so many unhappy people at a job before in my life. You are given reviews constantly, which normally should be ok. However the reviews are in constant focus of how you can improve, what you are doing wrong. This is so that you can get back onto the phones and be as productive as possible with absolutely no chance of ever having a raise. Promotions are highly biased and focused mainly on social networking rather then actual technical skill. Even though I'm at home I feel as if I'm constantly being watched. Even our internet traffic is monitored (on our own personal computers we're forced to provide) to ensure that we are only working during our hours. Every single second we spend during our shift is recorded into the metrics chart, which is then shown to you during your reviews. You aren't judged on technical skill or the ability to provide quality customer service. You are judged on how your numbers look, and which numbers need to drop by two or else you are risking your job. At this point, I can't even afford to pay my student loans for the degree I was required to have for this job.

Pros

Getting to work from home is pretty much the only pro You do accrue decent PTO . . . good luck using it though

Cons

-No raises in years -Different answers from every supervisor -Constantly changing schedules with no real say which one you get -Most of the actual technical work is done in India so North American workers are left to deal with most of the mundane customer service work with irate customers -Constant policy changes, sometimes with no notice until days after the fact -Get harassed if you actually try to use your PTO -No paid holidays -Hard to move up -Have to fight to actually have your accomplishments put into your review -Get punished by management if you bring any problems to their attention

Pros

• Perks for working in the corporate office include free Friday lunches, monthly happy hours (though participation is forced) and a stocked kitchen. • PTO accrual rate is decent.

Cons

• High turnover rates in the Human Resources Department and Payroll department. The inability of upper management to express humility is one major reason why both departments are in turmoil. Cursing and demoralizing comments towards the admin can be heard throughout the entire office on a daily basis and has been witnessed by everyone in the company. If you aren’t a favorite, expect to receive the wrath at least once during your employment with Support.com. • FAVORITISM. This is just referring to the corporate office. It is evident who upper management favors because “favorites” receive special treatment and aren’t forced to suffer the wrath; their suggestions are what dictate company events and they are the ones that receive elaborate “going away” parties when they resign. • Employees that approach upper management with questions concerning HR are often talked down to or lied to. Aside from dealing daily with the demoralizing nature of upper management, employees are often harassed, threatened with employment termination and reputation. Common comments include “the valley is very small, everyone knows everyone”. Lies about past teammates are used as a way to explain the high turnover rate. These lies are quickly exposed after working here for a week. • LACK OF RECOGNITION. Most employees would expect to receive a raise or promotion when their responsibilities are increased, especially when performing the work that would typically be done by a more senior employee or several employees. This is not the case here. When a teammate resigns expect to take on their responsibilities. If you are not one of the “favorites” you will not receive a promotion unless there is the chance that you are going to quit.
