Thank you for sharing your perspective. We appreciate your candor and recognition of the dynamic nature of our diverse business units. While we recognize that recent growth may have placed strain on some legacy processes and programs, we would like to assure you that investing in our employees and their professional growth remains a top priority and focus for SPA. In fact, over the previous year, SPA has invested more than ever in our Learning & Development department and career growth initiatives, standing up programs such as SPA Grow, LEAD Manage, APM/PM Bootcamp, and SPA’s mentorship program. Additionally, with the switch to our new HR Information System, we have continued to refine our goal setting and performance evaluation processes, allowing employees and managers to have clear, iterative, and meaningful conversations about career growth. We’ve also implemented a Career Connect program to allow enterprising employees to have career conversations and explore other areas of the business. We encourage you to visit the Center for Development page on Nexus and engage with your HR Business Partner to explore the developmental opportunities available to you.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad to hear you found the compensation and mentorship opportunities at SPA to be positive and beneficial. SPA has invested significantly in our Learning and Development offerings, including the highly successful Mentorship Program, so it’s great to see the efforts are resonating. All employees are encouraged to monitor Nexus for announcements surrounding mentor opportunities and apply as either a mentor or mentee. We recognize that flexibility in work location can be valuable when maintaining a healthy and productive work-life balance, and that’s why SPA strives to offer flexibility as much as we can while adhering to the needs and requirements of our customers, just as our competitors must do as well. Though positions may be guided by the customers they support, SPA offers eligible employees options such as flex time, floating holidays, and industry leading PTO, to allow folks more autonomy over their schedules. Thank you again for your thoughts. We encourage you to continue to share specific feedback with your manager.

Pros

Pay for analyst is mediocre

Cons

My experience at this company was challenging due to a highly political work environment. There appeared to be significant internal dynamics that influenced decision making more than performance or merit. In some cases, management interactions felt overly scrutinizing, with minor issues being documented in ways that created a sense of distrust rather than support. The culture did not consistently foster transparency or psychological safety. It often felt like decisions were predetermined, and once leadership formed a negative perception, it was difficult to change that narrative regardless of performance or effort.

Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective. It’s disappointing to hear your experience with your team and management was less than favorable. While we acknowledge that opaque internal dynamics and feelings of distrust present challenges to the work environment, we would like to assure you this does not represent the culture SPA promotes and has promoted for the last 53 years. SPA strives to be a people-first company, where employees’ interests, development, and recognition take center stage. Over the past few years, leadership has worked to ensure those values are cascaded throughout all teams and areas of the business. We are sorry this was not felt in your case. We appreciate your notes about building a trust-based environment focused on collaboration and constructive feedback and would like to respectfully highlight some ways in which we are demonstrating those qualities. During employment at SPA, employees undergo 90-day and mid-year check-ins, as well as participate in a comprehensive and iterative performance review process in which employees meet with their managers multiple times to set measurable and achievable goals. These goals are not only a collaboration between employee and manager, but they also allow for updates throughout the year to fairly capture changes in work or expectations. HR Business Partners are also available to support goals and navigate any challenges. Additionally, SPA has recently invested in expanding our Learning & Development offerings to support employees with their professional goals, including mentorship programs, study groups for professional certifications, a number of learning resources available through SPA University on Nexus, and five Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) dedicated to helping folks connect with and support like-minded colleagues. Thank you again for sharing your honest feedback. We will keep your notes in mind as we work towards continuous improvement.
