Pros

This company seems to be really well run. They are currently aggressively expanding. The management is competent and leaders at all levels are empowered to find solutions. Really good benefits. Pretty good compensation. Not too many corporate requirements outside of contracting requirements.

Cons

Unfortunately, the instability in government organizations impacted my role with the company. I felt like they were trying to take care of us, however I wanted to keep control of my own future. Communication is difficult at this time, since there are so many unknowns, but it would have been nice to have weekly updates or meetings with senior leaders to voice concerns or be informed.

Thank you for sharing your feedback! We’re glad to hear you found SPA to be well run, enjoyed your benefits and compensation, and appreciated our strong commitment to retaining employees impacted by changes to contracts. By leveraging our extensive workforce mobility program, employees affected by contract factors are able to explore and match with open roles that fit their skillsets. We recognize that rapid chnages to government agencies have created uncertainty across the industry; however, SPA is proud to report that our mission sets and capabilities currently align with 15 of the DoW's 17 strategic priorities, as outlined by the Secretary of War. Leadership continues to track trends in National Security to ensure we are investing in and growing capabilities with long-term strategic value. We also understand the importance of feeling informed and heard during these times and we’re taking action to provide that communication. SPA’s executive team holds quarterly town halls and recently participated in a Q&A session, open to all SPA employees, to address questions about current conditions directly. Thank you again for sharing your feedback. We will keep your notes regarding communication in mind as we work towards continuous improvement.

Pros

Good benefits Decent pay Incentivised bonuses Small company feel

Cons

Where do I start? Disorganized and complete insanity when they bought the employees on numerous contracts. - Overbearing, micromanagement with toxic manger tendencies/traits. - They don't report to proper channels or take SH claims seriously and will turn on the victim. - Will lie and fire employees, or employees they deem a "problem child" or they feel may negatively effect their future contracts for no good reason. - New management will hire their friends, with no experience and put them in lead roles over others with loads of experience and show complete favoritism.

Pros

The opportunity to learn at SPA is great. At the SD location it’s a super small team so you can really wear many hats at once and learn a lot!

Cons

HR took months to even respond to my service dog request but after mentioning it to the CEO they got it done in 5 minutes miraculously. The supervisors look down on people using their PTO. Everyone talks about each others including supervisors about other employees which is so unprofessional. There were multiple sexist comments made in the office. Employees talked out loud about trying to get another employee fired because they didn’t like him. I constantly felt like I was walking on eggshells. I also took the job because of there being 2-3 days of telework and after two months they went fully onsite with an occasional one day telework.

Thank you for sharing your experience at SPA San Diego. We're pleased you found value in the diverse learning opportunities here. We would like to address your concerns directly: • HR Requests: We aim for prompt responses to special requests while adhering to our operational and compliance guidelines. We understand that some requests take time to process and regret any misunderstandings in this process and are committed to effective and efficient communication. • Workplace Culture and PTO: We strongly encourage work-life balance and fully support our employees' use of PTO. It's unfortunate to hear you felt otherwise, and we will reinforce this ethos with our supervisory staff to ensure it is consistently practiced and communicated. • Telework Policy: The shift to onsite work was necessitated by the classified nature of our work and client requirements. We understand such changes can be challenging and we continue to explore ways to better balance customer operational needs with employee preferences. Your feedback is important for our continuous improvement. We're dedicated to fostering a positive and supportive work environment and will keep your suggestions in mind as we move forward.
