Pros

There are a handful of decent and competent employees, but it certainly isn't the majority. Decent free coffee, but only if you work in the Admin building. Otherwise, misery abounds.

Cons

Pretty much everything. The focus is rarely on the customer, or having a can-do attitude. Good luck providing a lead time or not having to flat out lie to customers because the idiot over scheduling still wants to use a quill and parchment rather than utilizing the ERP software. Even then a "promised date" comes with 25 qualifiers so that nobody has to take responsibility for anything. Employees have been caught flat out lying and its brushed off or ignored. The numbers are padded and changed, as long as it looks good on a spreadsheet for the owners then everything is good. The benefits are atrocious. Unless you have worked there forever (which a lot of people have and trust me even though that seems like a good thing at first, it most certainly is not) the PTO is pitiful. Heaven forbid you get sick because there goes any time off to yourself. Moreover, the insurance is expensive and covers some preventative care, but if you want to go to the Dr. expect to miss out on some pay or being dipping into your pitiful PTO. Oh yeah, back to unethical. If you see a good review on here it's because a pizza party was offered if the scores on here would improve. Way to get your underpaid hungry employees a millisecond of joy! Lies! I could ramble on and on about the negative that this place offers. My best advice if you are looking at a position here: move along. Don't waste your time having your happiness depleted and your soul crushed by working here. There are plenty of upstanding companies where employees are valued.

Sorry to hear about your unhappiness with TSE. From reading your post, we’re quite certain of your identity and the reasons you no longer work at TSE. Normally, we do not respond to such posts but have chosen to do so to correct certain inaccuracies in your post. TSE Industries was started in the early 1960s by Walter and Helen Klingel, the grandparents of the current senior management, and was incorporated in 1964. We now have over 300 employees and sell our products around the world from right here in Clearwater, FL. TSE has grown by making our customers the focus of everything we do. With this growth, we have experienced occasional challenges including new system updates and software changes, but our goal is to make the systems work for our employees! People who are excited to support our growth do very well and succeed within TSE. We strive to better our workplace each day and that has resulted in over half of our workforce being employed with us for more than 5 years! You state that the benefits at TSE are “atrocious.” We respectfully disagree. We offer excellent health, dental, life, and disability insurance. We pay a large percentage of the monthly health insurance premiums for employees and their families. We offer a 401(k) Plan with a current match of 15% of the employee’s chosen deferral. TSE truly appreciates our employees’ feedback, and we understood there needed to be some changes with our PTO policy. We listened to our employees, and we are excited to announce a new PTO policy starting October 1, 2021. When hired at TSE, an hourly or salary comp is reviewed for each position. Our hourly pay and salaries are competitive across the board with the Tampa Bay Area, as well as the entire Southeast United States. We appreciate the feedback on TSE and wish you the best with your future endeavors.

Pros

There were some wonderful but overworked people in the building. Pay was fair.

Cons

Poor and short-sighted business strategy and development. Nearly every employee there was overworked and stressed to the max and often complained or trash-talked other employees. Employer unwilling to reflect on realistic expectations for some roles. Many behind-the-back conversations. Frequently heard tenured employees saying "we were told two years ago the business or X issue would be solved or more stable by now." Lackluster benefits outside of pay (3 vacation days after 6 months until one year of tenure). Didn't even request an exit interview which goes to show that they feel they can do no wrong. I have never separated from a company on these terms or in a negative fashion, and I only decided to upload this review after seeing the posting for my former position being changed after a week. It goes to show senior management has no idea what they are doing or what they need from this role – which I saw first-hand after being promoted after a month to a role I had literally zero experience with. I told them as such and was eventually put on a "probation" due to poor work performance despite putting in somewhere between 45-55 hours each week for the role I was HIRED to do. They didn't care, and despite an overall positive six-month review this was apparently warranted just a couple months later along with my eventual release from the company. To substantiate this probation they went to "colleagues" who had literally no idea what my daily workload and tasks were, and asked for their remarks on my job performance. What's even more laughable is some of the feedback contradicted each other - that I didn't seem to get tasks completed in a timely fashion, but also that I needed to learn more about the business and spend time on the production floor...? Simply unbelievable. Keep in mind I am a career veteran of a decade, and have walked away from every other position with at least one, often multiple references, and positive feedback. But this company is the clear outlier. Stay far away from this company unless you are really desperate and enjoy being over-worked and over-pressured by people who don't have time to read emails you sent out hours earlier explaining what they're asking about.

Thank you for your feedback! If you are looking for a company with stagnate growth, zero opportunity to move up, and a slow and steady pace I agree “Stay away from WHK”. If you are looking for a company with continued double-digit growth, opportunity to move up as the company grows, and a high-energy environment then I encourage you to apply. WHK is not a huge corporate company where you are treated like a number and people barely notice when you are not contributing. WHK is unique because we are growing at a tremendous pace which is hard to find in a business. That also means you need to present and able to work closely with a team. Our strategy will remain the same…We will be to continue to hire great people to join our growing team.

Pros

Pay was good, benefits were alright

Cons

Owners don't know what they want, they don't even seem interested in the company as long as it makes them money. You can ask them the most simple question and they will look at you as if you were not talking in english.
