The Toxicity Is Real

Pros

Walked away with a good friend or two, had some decent health insurance. Perfect for anyone who wants to tune out reality and forget there's a world outside of work. Cushy benefits to make up for the parts of yourself that you will lose.

Cons

It pains me to see that this company has been able to decorate itself as a diverse workplace and inclusive culture AND has landed awards for what's merely on paper. Then again, what do you expect from a tech place owned by IKEA? If you haven't watched the IKEA documentary, you should - and if my review is taken down (as others have been before) Glassdoor should be reminded that facts are not slanderous. Their attempts to be inclusive are patronizing to persons of color and to anyone within the LGBTQ community. And their psychological mistreatment of their wage employees was painful to watch. There were a lot of meetings that consisted of carefully crafted corporate propaganda to remind everyone that the work we were doing was life-changing for the people who use the app. Once I was gone, it took me months to realize I left a tech cult ran by privileged people who would never be able to relate to their actual users.

Good potential with a new ceo

Pros

- benefits - employee programs - remote (but not any more) The people operations team really cares about supporting managers and employees. It is probably the only well running team at TaskRabbit. Even international teams feel well taken care of

Cons

Everything else The CEO really gets a kick out of smooth talkers so if you are a young white guy or woman who sounds half way smart you will do good. Unfortunately these aren't the leadership that is doing the good work. You will be dispensible. In spite of good company performance Ania thinks she can always do better with new people. I am sure that her slt attrition is 100% by now but she will say it's not her fault. You might learn something but most of the time you will be spinning without progress since priorities change every time senior leadership makes bad decisions Ania will be on her cell phone or sending slack messages on the side during important meetings and even one on ones

Pros

- For the newbies out there, depending on which team you are hired on (Operations. CX, legal, finance - are great. Low turnover) - Depending on the team, some managers are down to earth, gets work done, and really know what they are doing.

Cons

- For the newbies out there, depending on which team you are hired on (Marketing and EDDP - high turnover). - Seems like the company doesn't care about retention. They hire left and right and doesn't even try to convince people to stay. The new CEO, Ania, is really trying to clean house. - The culture has changed 100%. No longer a diverse company that it used to be. No longer a place that you would consider "neighborly". All the core values and what Leah and Stacy have built - down the drain.
