Pros

These are some of the nicest people in the world. As a new hire the more experienced engineers were available to help me when I needed it.

Cons

Not everyone there is interested in working hard all the time. There is a lot of time wasted.

Diversity may be an issue

Pros

Great company to work for. Salaries and benefits ok. Corporate culture generally fair at the Wichita Service Center, cannot say the same about Orlando and San Antonio where labor relations are very poor. Workforce highly diversified at the factory assembly lines (lower ranks).

Cons

Diversity an issue. Rarely seen a minority in lower, middle, or upper management roles. Very few compliance exceptions. Hard to believe that San Antonio, Orlando, and Mesa don't have qualified Hispanics for supervisory and management positions. Definitely an homogeneous culture. As a Latin American with a Bachelor, MBA and 8 yrs A&P was not able to be promoted from mechanic to supervisor. I gave up after several attempts. Nevertheless, I was called for the interviews. They do have minority clubs in Wichita, which in my opinion are made up for liability purposes by their homogeneous HR dept.

Moral is very low at Cessna

Pros

Very good mid-western work ethic. Most of the employees genuinely want to do a good job and continually work to improve the company. The product is very exciting to build, support and promote.

Cons

Moral is very low. The company lacks a true leader. The current president cares more about his own publicity than the engagement and development of employees. Sales are down and the only plan the senior leadership has developed centers around hope. The saying throughout the trenches is "Hope is NOT a plan".
