Maybe it's just growing pains

Pros

New company, lots of transitions happening right now. Opportunities for those people with the right connections or are really good at kissing up to consultants.

Cons

Classic Private Equity story: new ownership, external consultants who have no idea what's going on, lots of layoffs and transitions. Not taking the time to really understand what they're doing, listening to the same old people and making the same old mistakes, just with less people and less money.

Poor Management

Pros

Ok job if you want to work remote and are willing to accept a smaller salary.

Cons

The first 3 1/2 years were good because I had a great manager that supported you. Once that manager was no longer with the company the job became difficult, another manager was not hired and I was reporting to someone that had another full time job within the company and did not have the time to manage the additional employees. No support, employees were making management decisions and we were advised that they did not know when another manager would be hired. There was no job posting for a manager when I left the company and it had been 8 months since our manager had left. A management decision was made to track the number of computer keystrokes for underwriters and nastygram emails were sent out if you did not meet the required number of keystrokes. I am not sure if management did not understand that underwriters are decision makers and marketers and our jobs involved analyzing accounts and making phone calls and this work does not generate keystrokes. Underwriters are NOT data entry processors but that was what management was expecting of the underwriters. Be forewarned if you are considering an underwriting job here that management will be monitoring the number of keystrokes and this will affect your job performance evaluation. Management is absent most of the time and the employees have to collaborate to determine how to handle problems since there is little guidance from management.

Needs new management

Pros

There are some great people still with the company, but the majority of good people leave in the first few months.

Cons

Management has no idea how to take care of their people. Bonuses don't get paid out. Bullying and harassment are tolerated. To give an idea of culture, there are different bathrooms depending on salary band levels.
