Pros

Consistent paycheck, that's about it.

Cons

Low pay, no direction, no communication, empty promises. Large corporations want to treat their employees as fungible cogs which creates a working environment where developers are not appreciated. When competent developers end up at a job that does not feel rewarding, they can easily move to a different one. The end result is a workplace that mostly appeals to people who are not very good at what they do, and even if somebody good or eager to learn is hired, they will quickly realize they are in the wrong place and leave. High turnover and widespread apathy among teams results in undocumented software and processes built on top of a jumbled, unmaintainable, unstandardized mess of a code base running your business. Enter private equity firm who will work their magic (layoffs) to pump up the company and make it look profitable before they sell it to the next large corporation. Amynta is currently in the "private equity firm" stage.

Pros

+There are some good people, but most of the good people leave or get fired. +There is so much potential, but on the wrong track.

Cons

-Does not invest in their people. No training. -Management team changes so frequently that nothing gets done, or you constantly have to redo work. -Not an ethical company. -Controlled by a Private Equity company in Chicago and ran by a bunch of consultants who don't empower leaders at the company. -Tend to fire people just to meet budgets, with no regard for project success.

Going down the drain

Pros

It hasn't gone out of business (yet)

Cons

It is a very toxic environment. Management and their consultants have no idea what they are doing. Literally the only thing they care about is cutting costs in any way, no matter how it hurts productivity. Layoffs are occurring regularly and will continue. There is zero communication. There is no transparency. Management is extremely dishonest and disingenuous. If you are here you will hate going to work every day.
