Pros

Many years ago. MX was an incredibly supportive and nurturing agency. A rare gem. But with the change of leadership, an inexperienced CEO, an acquisition that went south quickly, and annual end of year layoffs, the agency became a tragic place of employment. Not located in Chicago, they are located in a very sad business park, where hopes and dreams go to die. Leadership is crude at best. Screaming is common. Pay increases are deplorable, and morale has left the building. MX could be a case study of how to ruin a great agency that years ago had a healthy work/life balance and tons of enthusiastic morale. I've been asked more than once to provide a review to help these glassdoor numbers and I finally agreed. The only reason I stay is because the job market is so tough right now. I've been interviewing for over a year. Another problem is that several senior leaders have been here for 20 years with no experience elsewhere. They bring nothing new to the table, as their experience is extremely sheltered and limited but I doubt they're marketable beyond these walls. They accept and support status quo thinking. It's truly just a very sad place to work. It's depression personified. Everyone hates it. Maybe quietly, maybe conversationally. But MX is loathed from within.

Cons

There was a mass exodus of partners, many of which were so great but couldn't bang their head against the walls anymore. The same problems exist and happen over and over and over. Every new website is like they've never created one before. It's amazing. No process, nothing that makes sense, timelines that are nonsense, and budgets to be blown. People who know what they're doing have no influence. And are too buried to make changes. Or won't be heard.

Pros

Coworkers were smart and talented, work-from-home options, good work-life balance

Cons

Forced culture, one community service day a year used only for marketing to make the company look good, pushed employees for good reviews to make the cut on the top place to work lists, management is out of touch, mass layoffs

Pros

The sense of satisfaction experienced upon leaving this company.

Cons

This company exhibits concerning management practices, reminiscent of a dictatorship, that impacts employee morale and well-being. There is a notable disparity in the treatment of employees by the management, which is seemingly condoned due to seniority. Additionally, creatives experience heavy workloads without adequate recognition or rewards.
