All talk, no action on DEIJ

Pros

In a lot of ways, this is a nice place to work. Generally nice people.

Cons

TNC simply refuses to take action on DEIJ. It's all talk. If you're a person of color, your chances of success here are limited. In the work, TNC's white dominant culture shines through, and they impose a very top-down, savior mindset.

Approach with Caution

Pros

Some good people, some not so. Honorable cause. Benefits are better than most places.

Cons

They speak a big game, but are a mess internally. Organization is trying to rebuild by running lean after laying off so many during the early pandemic. This translates to people doing the job of three to four people. Micromanagement beyond belief. No real opportunities to get to really know your team or coworkers. They claim a good work/life balance, but it's all talk. Depending on what division you work in, there are unrealistic expectations. There is obvious favoritism and clicks within the organization. Not to mention, it can be your fault if someone else does not do their part. Left me questioning certain ethical standards. Managers could benefit from diversity, empathy and leadership training, that is actually implemented.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I’m sorry to hear that your experience working at TNC wasn’t positive. We recognize that the way people experience working at TNC will vary by business unit and geography and want all to feel valued and respected. We are working hard to alleviate the stresses of workload by initiating Operational Excellence Initiative, which addresses capacity challenges in our organization. We also understand how this could affect work life balance which is very important to us as an organization. We're sorry to hear that you weren’t supported in that balance. We appreciate your feedback around training and would like to hear more about your experience and discuss ways we can improve. Please feel free to contact us at recruiting@tnc.org.
