The Way Work SHOULD Be!

Pros

Tilson Technology is a unique company and employer in every sense. Tilson is the fastest growing, hardest working, most challenging company for which I have ever worked. For me, and for my colleagues, Tilson provides the greatest opportunity to challenge oneself with growth only limited by your own efforts and desires. Tilson hires smart people, gives them autonomy and opportunity to create (personally and in business). It heralds their successes and mentors their fall-backs. Few companies do so much for their employees current and future opportunities, even if they move on to other positions outside of Tilson. Josh Broder, CEO and owner, actively leads the company and takes daily personal interest in fostering a team of great people by offering good pay and good benefits, with a eye toward making Portland, Maine, and Tilson's other local branch communities, great places to live, work, and thrive.

Cons

As a fast growth, aggressive mover in the marketplace, Tilson can be taxing in its pace. With all of the opportunities for personal growth and advancement noted above, much is asked of each employee: hard work, long hours, occasional crossed signals on company direction. Even as it is highly successful, it is still maturing in policies, processes, and staffing. The road to success is not always a smooth curve up; there are bumps along the way. However, the positives outnumber the negatives by a significant multiple.

Thank you for your positive review, and noting the opportunity for people who want more. Agreed on the challenges of growth - the bureaucracy has not caught up to the pace of operations!

Pros

- good pay - challenging environment

Cons

- talent is not fully taken care of. -managementement only cares about revenue projects and hires to make those projects happen, then fire their talent when projects are gone - it's a consultancy, and a long term strategy for revenue and growth aren't clear. - tend to make decisions blindly without clear objective

Sorry to hear about your negative experience as a former employee. If you could contact the CEO directly, we would welcome the chance to look into the circumstances of your employment termination and ensure that if we did make a mistake, we make it right, and also learn for the future. We have very little turn-over between projects and have many open positions, so are interested in hearing more about why you would have been let go because of a project wrapping up, or other circumstances. Please email info@tilsontech.com to start a conversation.

Pros

Very high proportion of skilled and dedicated employees, with an atmosphere of relatively minimal drama. Management is entirely devoid of Pointy-Haired Bosses, consisting instead of talented and engaged individuals who respect their employees. Client projects are frequently interesting challenges with opportunities for skill growth. Underperforming / unengaged / difficult-to-work-with employees tend not to last long.

Cons

Overwork is common - due to understaffing, inadequate scoping, and/or aggressively competitive bids. Long-term planning for business and revenue growth exists and is effective, but tends to overlook realities of day-to-day operational needs.

Thank you for the positive review and recommendation. We do try and avoid being a place where Dilbert resonates, and to be a place where high performers get to work with other high performers. We have stepped up our hiring/opened new positions to have more capacity for operations.
