Pros

One of my fellow colleagues suggested I look at some recent posts on Glass Door, almost like it was a funny thing. What a disappointment to see the negative remarks our fellow team members have written. It’s amazing that it was suggested that some reviews are fabricated vs. people actually liking their work…what a concept!! I’ve been coming to work each day for the past 4 + years and have seen changes, some good and some bad. What I like about being at the new Tivity, first is our colleagues, not to pat us on the backs but we’re a great bunch! We’re dedicated, hardworking and enjoy what we do. And second is the leadership. The focus and direction that we now have is inspiring. Yes, there are pains when things change, staying the same is easy!! If you are not able to work in a changing environment, don’t want to grow and learn, don’t like working for a profitable company that has had more successes in the past year than we have had in several years, you should think about leaving. Don’t bring down the morale of the rest of the group as some negative managers seem to do. I like the new policy of Mr. Tramuto – giving his cell phone out suggesting anyone with an issue to call him I think is novel. I don’t think our former CEO did that and honestly, I don’t remember him even visiting us here in Chandler. I do like the focus that the ELT has put on us here in Chandler and I know more good things are yet to come. As far as a focus on the share price and stock holders, I’m pretty sure that is an important part of being a company that trades on the stock market. There should always be focus on making a company profitable and pleasing shareholders, it must be a component of the culture. My experience is that it is not the only focus. I see a focus on the customers, members and employees and yes there is a focus on profits. I think we need all of that to continue to be employed. If we don’t make money we won’t have jobs, and naturally if we don’t have customers and members we also won’t have jobs. It’s common sense, no? The comment about the ELT being too new and not knowing the business is comical – if you think that’s the case, then do something to help! If you love this company so much, if you don’t think as a manager you can do something to help, then find someone in the company who can, who will listen to your ideas. I know they are out there. If not, if you want things the way they were, no bonus, low morale, low stock price, company losing money you should find a new employer that meets those criteria, that’s the way we were. For me, I am going to continue to make Tivity a great place to work, think positive and help us grow.

Cons

I think we could use some more training. We’ve had several successful quarters now, could we get some training to keep us fresh? Back in the day, I recall being offered some practical business skills training but when things started to turn that all stopped. It would be helpful to start that again so we can improve our skills.

Pros

The company has many great, talented, and dedicated employees. We appear to have a direction now for the first time in many years, although not as good as when Mary Swanson ran the company. Donato has come on board and is trying to turn the company around to "Being the Best". Bringing back bonuses are great (although not if it causes jobs)! Partners love working with us and it's due to the great employees we have and the relationships we have developed with them.

Cons

I want to believe in Donato and started to think he means what he says. Either Donato doesn't know what his middle management is doing, or he's smart like a fox and talks a good game. Employees in this company don't know where they stand. There are constant layoffs and everyone lives in fear thinking they are next. It feels like the company is cutting everything to appear even more profitable just so they can sell the company for more profits for stakeholders, not caring how it affects their employees. Divisions don't know what each other is doing and how they can help each other with our overall goals. I don't recommend applying for this company until there is more stability. The company thrives on changing to change, and not changing with a long term goal. Every year, directions, goals, and ideas change with no input from employees, just to find out later that we go back to the way it was before (which wasn't bad).

Thank you for your feedback. I absolutely agree that we have talented and dedicated colleagues and leaders who are committed to making a difference and moving Tivity Health in the right direction. I regret that I didn’t have the opportunity to work with Mary Swanson directly, and based on what I hear, I can only imagine that she was an inspiring leader, as is our own leader, Donato. We recognize that transformation does require change, which can be both uncomfortable and frustrating, and that in times of change, clear communication is critical. The reality is that sometimes we won’t have all the answers figured out, and in an open, candid, and trusting culture—which I personally strive for—we should be able to share what we do know, and what we still don’t know, and ask our colleague to hang in there with us and help us to figure it out. This would also require that our colleagues trust enough to share their feedback, questions and concerns directly, so that they can be acknowledged and addressed. You make a great point about providing an organizational chart, and that is something our team is working on making easier for colleagues to access. We're also collaborating with our leaders to ensure alignment across the enterprise—and in essence, become easier to do business with internally. Thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughts and concerns. –Bonnie Schirato, VP, Human Resources

Pros

Good benefits. Solid group of IT people with a high level of expertise. Projects are interesting and challenging. The mission is fine: send people to the gym. Work/life balance is respected although not so much lately. CEO is energetic.

Cons

New corporate identity with new management meaning a lot of people were laid off. CEO is too open about his politics. His Christmas gift to us was the book he wrote about himself and which turned out to be embarrassing. Company culture events tend to have that East Germany feel.
