      Great culture, great development of its people, good benefits that go past just beer in the office, leadership is very communicative

      Pros

      Amazing place to work...if you're a smoker! Many smoke breaks! "Unlimited" PTO is usually approved The pay is decent if you don't have a degree -- if you've been to college keep looking, you can do better

      Cons

      The internal communication at Toast was the absolute worst I've ever been apart of. Announcements and changes would be made on the fly and half the time you'd be lucky to hear about it. If your opinion doesn't line up with management or the majority, you're looked at as an outcast. No bonus structure for performance, meaning some people can get away with doing nothing all day and are paid the same (or more). Onboarding was an absolute disaster. I was told over the phone I would be making a certain number hourly and my offer sheet showed a lower one. Felt like a cult at times, which is weird for a warehouse position. They claim it's all about equality, but if you're a favorite with management, you're golden.

You raise many important concerns and I’d welcome and value the opportunity for additional discussion, so that we can improve your experience. We’re certainly far from perfect here, but I can confidently tell you that our leadership team is committed to creating an environment where all employee opinions are heard and valued. We tolerate nothing less. Additionally, providing employees with frequent and transparent updates continues to be a focus area for us. We know there is still room for improvement here, but are hoping that the increased cadence in company all-hands meetings and email communication has been helpful.       Pros

      Cool company to work for. I enjoyed my XX amount of years there. I met a lot of great people and got some great experiences out of it.

      Cons

      Obviously COVID took a major toll on toast and heard decisions needed to be made. What is sad is that Toast let get some of the best minds at the company. I'm talking about the best of the best. To save a dollar instead of stretching the dollar to get its max value. I wish they would have given us a reason as to why but I know I will never get that answer.
