Pros

10% discount, overnight nets you a $1 differential. During "season" you can make slightly more due to the overnight pay, holiday pay and the occasional over time. The stocking positions are really easy and don't require a whole lot of training or prior knowledge.

Cons

Terrible management! I've assisted 2 other stores in the Los Angeles market and that seems to be the trend. Store direction and protocol is based on who is working at that time. Product is often left sitting in shopping carts and on "uboats" without being stocked on the floor or stockroom. Loss prevention is an afterthought. There was a former supervisor who was able to enter a store after hours and empty the safe nearly a week after being terminated. But the worst would probably be how they handle raises. In 2014 when minimum wage increased to $9 locally, the company moved all reviews up to the week before it increased, to insure they didn't have to pay people making below $9 prior to the raise an increased wage. The following year, they myself and several employees were told that they couldn't offer us more than 1% because, "The new manager hadn't worked with us for a full year (he had been there for 9 months at that time) and that they would try to get us a better raise next year" Funny part about that is that he has since been replaced, so we will probably hear the same story again next year come review time.

Pros

One of the only good things about working for Toys R us is that it will prepare you for all the bull you have to deal with if you decide to have a career in retale.

Cons

Too many to list but a few are really bad management, even worse coworkers, and a lot of company polices that make no sense.

Pros

There are not too many pros for my store. The company puts pressure on each store to make sales and sell extras like square trades, and credit cards. The atmosphere can be very uplifting sometimes and the people you work with are always a pleasure. The returning customers are the biggest pro, you form relationships with them, watch their children get older and earn the customers trust.

Cons

I have been woth the company over 3 years. I have had different positions but still make under 11 an hour as a department supervisor! I am full time but never get 40 hours a week. There is no competitive pay; so regardless of what you are doing you start off at $7.75, and if you jump rank (pt- key) they don't pay you the difference. There is no company appreciation for employees. The store manager is hardly ever seen but when he is he is quick to bring morale down! If you work boh be ready to do EVERYTHING! cahier, trucks, customer service, specail projects, no air in the summer and no heat in the winter! Turnover is so bad that you are constantly training someone.
