Pros

Great knowledge and good stepping stone to the workforce. You can learn a lot of knowledge and get good lab practice.

Cons

When the time comes to move up there is a lack of knowledge on how to do it. Or lack of movement on the management part. Takes awhile to go the ball rolling.

Pros

Unmh is a great experience. You can learn a lot and get a lot of experience with many different types of patients. Being a county hospital it is fast paced, days are broken into two half’s making the night go by quicker. Big hospital and always expanding

Cons

Horrible management, awful pay, computer systems and medical instruments break often, quick turn over, management cares more about what shoes you’re wearing than your safety(covid exposure), not allowing pto because so short staffed. Everyone is burnt out. Used to have great people to work with, but due to current situation, management hires who ever they can get and it definitely shows. Long time employees are all leaving. Due to short staffing you are not allowed to tell hospital staff that we are - short staffed, extremely behind on draws and receiving specimens, many specimens are on a 2+ hours (therefore out of stability) wait time to be processed due to lack of staff, out of supplies, etc, therefore placing blame on employees and alleviating management from responsibility. Draw are left for next shift making the work day stressful.
