Pros

The people who work as "inside" employees at the office in Seattle seem to have awesome teamwork skills. The atmosphere immolates a big, happy family. Additionally, taking your pet to work is awesome and shows how much Trupanion believes in the human-pet bond. Trupanion even employees "dog walkers" so employees who bring pets to work do not have to "take a break" to perform their job duties. Trupanion outside employees are called Territory Partners. They are the individuals who actually promote the product and build relationships with Veterinarians across the country. Their goal is to educate these practices so the vets themselves can actually make a recommendation to their clients. Being a Territory Partner has a lot of options for an employee because it allows the person to basically "own" their own franchise and operate day to day on their terms.

Cons

Trupanion's Management seems to team treats the Territory Partners as if they are expendable. Their inner philosophy seems to be "What have you done for me lately." They have a huge turnover rate. Trupanion hires these "partners" as franchisees without any salary or benefits. The partners even have to pay for their own collateral material such as brochures and etc.. However, they set strict and sometimes unreachable selling quotas and then often "let someone go" when they don't meet the quota--even if that individual had previously done well.

Pros

- the mission itself is noble and fulfilling for employees who are pet parents themselves. - great office vibe. Mandatory 3 days a week in-office but the days are flexible. - free insurance for one pet - office dogs

Cons

- Leadership avoids addressing topics perceived as politically sensitive, limiting opportunities to openly support and communicate a pro-DEI stance. Openly fears “upsetting red states”. - Insufficient budget allocation for essential tools and applications limits employees' ability to develop skills and maximize growth within their roles. - Leadership consistently demonstrates poor decision-making and ineffective management. - Communication is severely lacking; directors may go days without responding when conflicts arise. - Leadership and HR enable toxic behaviors by failing to address bullying, leading to significant talent loss. - Leadership lacks a clear vision for its employees, creating ongoing misalignment and repeated operational failures. - Middle managers receive minimal support or structured coaching, hindering professional development and performance. - Job roles frequently expand beyond the original description without proper acknowledgment, with leadership framing it as adaptability rather than addressing workload concerns. - Leadership has limited understanding of social media strategy and audience engagement, requiring repeated clarification of fundamental digital metrics.

Pros

Not much to be redeemed here.

Cons

Senior leadership has no ethics and just makes things up as they go along. Just when you think it's bad or crazy, it gets worse.
