      Painfully incompetent leadership

      * Decent compensation package with competitive salary, bonus, and stock grant. * Some solid engineering staff

      Cons

      * No clear translation of the mission of the company into technology initiatives that will drive growth. * Many aimless and/or meaningless projects that ultimately fail or have little ROI. * Poor technology leadership team. * Marketing has far too much influence in technology organization.

      Trupanion was once amazing. Now it's toxic.

      Pet passionate people. Knowing that you are making a difference in the lives of pets.

      Where to begin? Company began sliding downhill several years ago when Darryl took a step back and Margi (and others) took over. They brought in outsiders with little experience and less of a clue. Zero leadership left. I could go on and on but imagine the most toxic environment possible and that is what its like working at Trupanion. If you dare challenge or question anything you will be blacklisted. I was let go by a middle manager who didn't have a clue how to properly "fire" an employee. I legitimately had to ask "are you serious? Is HR aware of what you are saying?" Like I said, no clue. Extremely unprofessional. REally sad as it was once an amazing place to work with values to match.

      Pros

      Really flexible work environment, appreciated working from home.

      Cons

      Only room for growth if you are friends with someone above you. In the department I worked in, the leadership team had lots of cliques, no one got ahead unless you became buddies with the people in charge. Went 2 years without a salary increase, and when it happened, it wasn't even consistent with a cost of living increase. Very disappointing end to my long tenure with the company.
