Pros

Amazing ability to be flexible in hours and a fun interesting job

Cons

Working independently can be a bit lonely. Make time to disconnect because it’s easy to get caught up in work at home (although not expected)

Thanks for the 5-star rating! A fun, flexible job is pretty hard to beat, isn’t it?! That being said, I don’t want to disregard your solid advice about feelings of isolation and the breakdown of work/life balance barriers in this new remote, pandemic working environment we find ourselves in. If you want to talk about resources to help you live your best TPA life please reach out! We have lots of fun ways to get you plugged into the Trupanion community (yes, even remotely!). You can reach me directly at anna.berentson@trupanion.com.

Pros

Benefits package for individuals is excellent and childcare benefit is excellent. Insurance without premiums for one pet included. Pets in office. Love the people on my team because individuals and middle management are good people and we care and treat one another well.

Cons

Unhealthy work/life balance is expected if you wish to succeed ling term. Top level management is cis, heteronornative, neurotypical, healthy, wealthy, predominantly male, Christian (with one exception), and doesn't reflect the majority of employees (female or gender queer, poor, chronic health issues, often queer, often young). This mismatch results in fully anticipatable concerns from employees. Management repeatedly struggles to predict or respond appropriately, requests feedback, and 50/50 may openly lash out at the solicited candor. They are partnered with Mars, VCA, Bluepearl, and Banfield. Rather than a living wage base pay for all workers, you can only approach living wage if you are a high-producer. Upper management swears they are working on it, but this company is now more than 20 years old. In the mean time employees have made an in-office food pantry (stocked by other low level emoyees whenever we possibly can) to address coworkers coming to work hungry because of widespread food insecurity. Hopefully remote employees have access to a local food bank.

Pros

Bonus structure allows you to essentially choose how much money you make. Fair expectations of performance and provides feedback where needed. Flexible time off availability.

Cons

There is miscommunication between leaders and reps or between departments sometimes. Sudden changes without always thinking of all possible outcomes and having team members deal with the implications of angry customers
