Pros

Benefits, This is the main reason people stay (unless you are a driver making $35/hour).

Cons

Low pay for what is expected of you, poor communication from upper management, complete lack of respect for PT supervisors, constant micro-management, high turnover of PT management and employees. Employees have too low a starting wage to retain any quality people. On top of it they have to wait 1 year to get the health insurance (which is the main reason people actually stay). Management is so desperate for workers they will overlook almost any type of infraction which sends a very negative message to the few employees that actually care. This place is a nut house... problems ever where you look. Very rarely is anyone actually recognized for hard work or trying their best.

Pros

The people are wonderful, for the most. Of course, there will always be jerks wherever you go. But overall, UPS hires good people that know how to "adult" in tough situations. Old school manners prevail, with men holding doors and waiting for women to enter and exit elevators first - sometimes to comical effect if the woman in question is not used to such gentlemanly behavior (me). Beautiful campus, decent cafeteria, steady and dependable organization.

Cons

Dependability sometimes breeds complacency, so long term employees tend to coast in their jobs. The old-timers someone just hold on until retirement (at 55 if you have been an employee for 25+ years!) New employees should not expect that kind of retirement. Contractors do a LOT of work for UPS - but of course - you can be let go at any moment (a downside of contractor life). For the most part, contractors treated fairly, although there is the typical "smoke and mirrors" / red badge crap that still goes on (honestly no different than other contract positions I've had). Also, like many companies-UPS is extremely focused on attracting millennials-often at the expense of neglecting older employees. This is definitely creating some resentments in the troops.

Pros

Being able to work with great service to great people in the local communities while getting the job done. Also working with good people and veterans who were always open to teach and express in a respectful manor.

Cons

Feeling like the company really cares about you if there was a serious incident that occurred. Not being giving a gps or map to complete routes.
